That is an awesome shot Phil! Very intense to my eye. Your look and the tilt shift together make it intense for me. And I love the color. I have no idea what the rig you used for this shot looks like and Im so curious. I didnt realize you could use instant film in a Hasselblad camera.
I really hate seeing myself so I dont like taking self portraits but as it happens, I do have quite a few from my last semester. It was a people photography class and most of the time the only people I could shoot was myself.
This is a double exposure done on purpose on a Holga 135. Like I said, I hate seeing myself in pictures and double exposures are a really great way to hide myself in the shot. LOL! I know, sort of defeats the purpose of taking a self portrait but hey, its the best I could make myself do.
Suzi, I'm guessing you are off taking one for us as I type ;)
Great stuff from all.
Ian, at least you spared us the one in women's clothes although I'm sure you turn a good ankle!
I did have a few, but my "E" drive has vanished form my computer.....anyone have any ideas how to find? What was the E: drive used for: CD-ROM, Separate Hard Disk, Separate Partition on main drive, external drive, USB Schtick, SD card?
I'm also not a big fan of having my picture taken by other people, I quite enjoy taking self portraits though but I much prefer being behind the camera rather than in front of.
It's nice to see everyone faces ! :D

Love the shot Ed and I love the story about your dad. What a great connection to have made through the use of photography.
That is some camera Sapata, and an awesome self portrait. Love your thoughtful expression.
Here is one from March. I use it as my FW avatar so it'll look familiar, although it lacks a certain punch at 90x90 pixels :) I used the Tachihara 5x4, but shot it on the smaller (100 series) Polacolor 125i film with the usual stain on the print. The unconvincing stubble isn't a permanent feature. When he saw this online, my Dad thought it was a photo of him from 30 years ago...which was kind of spooked me out and made me happy at the same time.
Wonderful, MauricioThanks Phil... nice of you ;) great you started the thread, it's good to see everyone here out of the avatars :D
Fantastic feat with the flexbody, Phil!!! (Me using air cable 2 wks ago)
This is really good original_ann !
I love the overall colours, the red skirt against the green grass really stands out and the location is great !
ann, dreamy shot you put up~ are they any good those air cables?
By far the best likeness of me and by far my fav self-portrait.
Taken with a Franka Rolfix - long exposure -with Kentmere art Document paper as neg then enlarged onto Forte paper.
(Wait for it...I've been building up to this one*)
I particularly liked the shots from Windy and Miller.

Fabulous Ailsa! I'm mesmerized by the ocean wave of your hair!

No art here, just a happy-snap (note my Phil / Ian-style smile). Konica Wai-Wai reloaded with XP2 Super - 17mm and a mirror on the front makes self-portraits pretty easy, even while driving I-95! A great thread! See ya! Skj.

It's not that amazing. Plus that's my crappy watercolour paper... ran out of already cut-down to size Arches Platine which is nice and smooth :( Need to get out the big paper cutter and spend a few hours cutting down the next batch of paper.Come on Heather... the picture is really good.
plus that's a really unflattering angle for my double chin. eesh. And my chest :-[
Did you have to say MOM for the remote to work? Just curious.Well... she was waiting for my cue...
Happiness is a man and his shed.
Happiness is a man and his shed.
... and Peter, I can see that self-same happiness by looking at your face. I'd almost say you were ecstatic.
;D 8) ;) ;) :D
Francois, your photo looks like something Mario Testino would knock up in one of his less annoying moments. I'm not a fan of his work, but I love the irony of your snap and the fact that you fooled Mojave with your comment. You almost had me going for a second, but then I worked it out.I wasn't thinking of any others work when I shot it... I just took an old frame I had found that was lying in the garden shed, dusted it off and used it... as for the mesmerizing technical talk and strange device naming, it's always been a geek hobby of mine :)
Yep, that's me being ecstatic.
I think by this eighth or ninth attempt I was getting bored. At least I was actually in the shot (which I wasn't for a couple of the earlier attempts).
thanks diane :)
is it one your family would look at and nod and say, 'yes, that's him alright'?
Hey Vicky - I thought you said you'd got the new lens and had your old one mended....?? ::) ;)
Durr!
penny drops, wot a thickie :)

(i'm going to stop right there)

What peter's really needs is an alocholic beverage of his choice.
I think his large screen TV must be behind the camera.
Mike
heh, i wasn't giving 1964 as a birthdate, just the style of the picture..and now i feel old :)I always say cute girls stop aging at 35 :)
Francois, you charmer ;)Well... I guess that's the Latin side of my personality that's coming through :)
Me with rather large sleeves! ;Doh, is that what's in fashion nowadays? ;D
Erin, a little FlexBody porn for you.
This one was more just about playing with the film (polaroid fade to black). I needed to shoot something close to hand to test it out and my face happened to be the nearest thing!
I can't speak for others, but, I love to attach a face to the name. I see all of you as friends and so want to see in my minds eye who I am addressing.
Not sure if this has seen the light of day... On a Kwacka Z250b ala the Jamaican film 'Rockers'...
Leon, Nigel, Miller - great stuff, guys!
Any more for any more? There must be - don't be embarrassed, you are among friends ;D
ive been told that i'm extremely good looking, however ;)
i normally don't get my picture taken but here's a mirror shot hahavery straight bonestructure, I'd say ;D

Nice Portrait Ed.
The image seems exceptionally sharp so, any idea what technical details where used with the orginal paper neg? exposure time, pre\post flashing etc?
Mike
Me!leon, are you going for a new "look"? you seem troubled lately, judging from recent photos ;D

I was pulling the faces for comedic effect ...
I get it! ... like Buster Keaton in the silent movies! I suppose it's all the rage now after the 'Artist' ;DWhat you don't know is that Leon has the same flat hat as Buster, it's just that he didn't wear it that day ;)
I think I said you looked more 'swarthy' in the photo. Either way, I hope you didn't drop a stitch!!

old school jays was the best!Still, I miss the old Expos vs Jays days...
oh just because you didnt seem like you were feeling the shots from the double zero thread a couple weeks ago :D
Info Red - digging this and thanks for the addition to the thread.
Hi folks, I'm just a lurker here but thought I would introduce myself in case I decide to post later. I've been in Tokyo since 2007 (before that I lived in NYC for 9 years and before that Kansas City), have various cameras and have a darkroom-on-wheels that I wheel out when the need arises. Not all that skilled at photography but I do what I can.
I'm actually really interested in that darkroom on wheels you're talking about. care to write a bit more about it? I wonder if it's something you made from scratch :)
Welcome, Aksel.
Love the shot, although, it is rather an extreme way of proving that no cable release was used ;)
Phil, it could have been a remote trigger - though heaven knows where it was being hidden.... ;)
THE famed holgajen?? cool! *slightly starstruck, yes* didn't know you used to hang out here :)
Wow Jen!
That's been a really long time!
Glad you're back :)
Hi! I was trying to photograph the sunset from my window and when I took the photo from the store I saw this and I thought "Oh! Nice selfportrait!"hah! and it is! :D welcome by the way, nasos :)
Hello all.
First post from me on here, must say - love this forum.
Big hat tip to all contributors! I just recently found out that film and photography was the thing for me, and must say I find great pleasure in the gear as well as in the actual picture taking. I Found the forum after swapping my GRD for a GR1 as my "go everywhere" camera, searching for info about it.
Me to the right, at my friends summerhouse last year, taken with timer, about two feet of books and a Yashica T4 with my first roll of Tri-x. Developed at a lab. Been taking about a roll a week sins then, but still not developed a single one of them. The plan is to do it my self, soonish. Should anyone be in the Oslo area and fancy a walk I would be more than happy to function as a guide.
Cheers,
Aksel

But Paul, Cromwell was as tyrannical as those he replaced. My real heroes were the Levellers and their proposals for human rights and universal suffrage (which Cromwell repressed btw).
Bra og ikke mist morsomt bilde Aksel. Kong Oscar II og Kong Olav V?
Don´t know if you other people noticed, but Aksel and friend are sitting beneath the portraits of two of our recent monarchs. Really makes the picture for me.
Welcome :)

OK, a quick shot taken yesterday. I decided to frame myself for a shot. Only thing is I had to use my favorite voice activated remote triggering device... which also goes by the name "mom" :)
Polaroid 600... first pack I tried was totally cooked so I had to take another one out of the fridge.

Good to see you, Domingo and welcome to Filmwasters.

Verian almost got banned for posting a 'cute kitten' photo, but I'll let him have one more life due to services rendered to the FW cause over the last year. BUT NO MORE BL**DY KITTENS from now on, please. This isn't The Internet or anything like that is it, so don't....oh wait :-[ :D
Welcome John!
Nice rangefinder :)
Welcome John. Handsome, the both of you.
I kinda miss having Diane, Ed and... what's his name... the only guy who could make an old Kodak rucksack look good... drop by on the forum.
been very busy with illustrating a book
That's pretty cool how some of the 'reflected' people are at the same scale as the 'inside' people. I had to stare at that one a while.
At a recent wedding that we got invited to. I was the only one with a film camera, everyone else kept telling me I haven't seen one of those cameras in a long time. Everybody else had their iPads and iPhone that they were shooting with.so you loaned out the camera for someone to take your shot then? and I guess this was with the m6? in that case, good work getting the person to come to terms with rangefinder focusing :)

I'm gonna have to go ahead and post this picture of a non-me Filmwaster, without his permission, because it's the best shot I've ever taken of him, and definitely among one of my best shots ever. Here my friends, is L.A. Nolan. He has good taste in cameras

Just had a roll of film processed (HP5+) taken in May 2015 at "The Jugged Hare" after the London Photographica event. I can't remember which camera I used. Anyway, all that's irrelevant. For those unfamiliar, left to right:
Moiz, Ed Wenn, Nick Moys, Leon and Paul Mitchell.

Welcome Aksarben, I also started on an Instamatic, I still have it and it still works. I wonder how many of us started out on one? I also drink wine.

Thanks for the welcome!!
I work for Fenn Valley Vineyards, near Fennville, MI. I've been there since 1999 in the capacity of Assoc. Winemaker. We make a lot of different wines, from Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Meritage (blend of Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet franc) as well as Moscato, Cranberry, Spiced Peach and Honey and even Vidal Icewine. We have a range from pretty much bone dry to very sweet like the Icewine or Late Harvest Vignoles. Now we have recently started making ciders for us and for other winery/cider orders. We have wine by the glass, by the bottle, or bulk. Same with the cider, and it is on tap. I bring home a small bottle every couple of days to enjoy. My special blend of our dry cider, with additional Apple Concentrate (gives it more apple flavor/character) and a touch of sugar to offset the crisp malic acid taste.
I actually started making wine in High School in my bedroom back in 1971. Easy enough to make, and I did not need any ID for buying grape juice and yeast. Mom already had some sugar.
Well, somehow editing removed the "quote" html coding.. oh well...
Hello everybody,
I have been following the forum for some time (a couple of years or so...) gathering info here and there :) and finally I decided to end up with my spying attitude ;) and say hi and thank everyone here for the help. Thank you.
I started with film cameras when film cameras were the only way to get photos 8) so I am that old... My very first one was an ALPA from my granddad which I used extensively for years. Then, I do not know why, I decided to buy my own camera with my birthday savings and I bought a Yashica FX-3 2000, a fantastic camera still here with me that I was not able to obtain good results with. When digital world surfaced i promptly got a Digital Konica Minolta but results were't good. Some years later, I bought a Pentax Km (stolen) then replaced by a K20 to which I attached lots of manual lenses. This is my digital camera up to date.
It was in 2011 when I turned back to film, slowly but firmly :) and now I can say that I am a real filmwaster (just look at my fridge where there are much more rolls than food 8) )
So here I am.
My photo, a bit blurred, taken with CineStill 50 and scanned with a Pakon F135 Plus,
(https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1682/23992678419_3bf898a937_o.jpg)
Regards,
Welcome!
And don't worry about the tweaking scans thing, I think we all hate it and just resort to using levels, curves and dusting tools... And for me, a lot of the time not even the dusting tools.
Welcome Jonathan, you’re not the only one to start out as a lurker. We look forward to your contributions.
Always good to have another film waster come out of the shadows (which of course have retained plenty of detail). Welcome to the group. We are looking forward to seeing your work.
It's wonderful that you both joined Leanne and Jonathan. Looking forward to see both your work. :)
Welcome!
Jonathan and Leanne :)
Welcome, Ryan. :) That's a really good portrait. Did you take it yourself?
Good to see you Andy :)Thank you ;D

(slowly learning my Spanish on Duolingo... but not really up to speed yet) ;)
Welcome back Antonio!Hello !! Thank you ;-)
This is a frame off the first Fomo R100 reversal film I just put through my new to me Beaulieu R16. There is a fair amount of solarisation on many of the frames.
