NightTracks on BBC Radio 3 is OK, but I always feel it's never quite as adventurous as the old
Late Junction show which used to run Tue-Wed-Thu until it was demoted to just one show on Friday late last year.
That was the programme where sometimes you'd hear something and think "What the heck is this? It's awful!" and next night hear something which made you think "What the heck is this? It's absolutely fantastic!"
I mean, "A Sound" by Nicole Mitchell was not probably something I'd have sought out but listening to it last year blew me away with its sheer energy.
https://youtu.be/9dphT4GMPUEThe Thursday night "NightTracks: Archive Remix" sequence often uses a 'radio tuning' motif between tracks, which reminds me of the days of my youth when I'd lie under the covers with my radio tuning slowly from one end of the dial to the other on each waveband, just to see what I could find.
