Yes, you have to wonder what it is that the photographer and the advertiser are attempting to communicate by including an old film camera in the scene. If the photo was a vintage fashion shot including a contemporary camera would at least make a little sense as being an accessory to the latest fashion trend. In that case, it does not matter much that the model obviously has no clue about the operation of the camera.
Actually, I suppose there was a set designer who may have been directly responsible for the choice of props, but it is still hard to know how that individual imagines the audience for such a scene and how the choice of the camera prop is intended to appeal to the imagined market.
