Same same but different sunset. Fuji Superia Xtra 400@100 and yet still heavily overexposed for the strong backlight. Works nicely IMO.

Yet more black & white.  Neopan SS souped in HC-110 B.  I think it likes Rodinal better.

A couple from a trip out to "Lake" Morena. It is mostly drained now, so more of a "meadow".

All good work, as always.  I especially enjoy the train station splash of light and the gelato bar.

I'm sloshing my way through the rolls of film I brought back from spending the month of June in Portugal.  Here are four Lisboa skyline views.

This is something you don't see very often anymore, a phone booth.  I'm not sure why a town with a population of 2 needs a phone booth but there it is.

That's quite nice. Almost looks like Ektar ... maybe because I'm used to seeing Bebbington's western Ektar photos :)

Oh, also, phone booths aren't as rare as you'd think, at least in NYC. Here's my old photo project of taking pictures of all the subway payphones I encountered in a 3-month period. And these are only the phones in the subway system, not on the streets! No guarantee that any of them actually work, though ;)

(click without fear, they're all film photos, none of that d*****l crap ;) )

The phone booth picture is lovely, what makes it special for me is that little strand of cable linking the box to the pole - and then the rest of the world. I've thought about documenting the remaining phone boxes/booths in my city, maybe this will be the spur to get the camera out and start that project. Thanks for posting.

Meanwhile here is a picture of derelict sugar mill machinery at the New River Mill ruins in Nevis, West Indies.

"Where are we going?" the kid asked. "Out." I replied. "Out where?" he pressed as only a kid can. "Out there." I pointed out to the open water as I started the engine of the boat.

"Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why are we going out there?"

"To pay homage to Fluminian."

"What's a Fluminian?"

"Not what, who. Fluminian is a who."

"OK, then who, who is Fluminian."

"He's a photographer that takes a lot of pictures of boats on the water."

"So what did you buy from him?"

"Huh?"

"You said you had to pay him something."

"I said pay homage. That means to show respect by a public display. I like his pictures, so I want to take a picture of this boats bow against the water to show my respect for the images he produces."

We motored out to sea, watching the small waves crest and fall, the fluid dynamics of the undulating water keeping time with the motors thrumming. Eventually the kid bored of watching the water.

"What's this chain for?" he asked.

"Don't mess with that chain. Just ignore it."

"But what does it do?"

"It attaches to a plug at the bottom of the boat. You pull it and the boat will flood and sink."

"Oh, that's good" he grinned mischieviously. Then he pulled the chain. He was still laughing as the boat faded from view as it sank to the bottom of the sea.

The little bastard.

From a trip to Gibside, a National Trust property near Gateshead. I had to get a low viewpoint to minimise the view of the 7 foot wire fence which prevents access to the ruined hall, so kneeled down and hand-held the Mamiya RZ67 loaded with Fuji Reala. I need to remove the centre column from my tripod so that I can get to this level and still use the tripod.

Just go and visit the Dia art museum. If there's a place where you find big sculptures, this is it :)

Will keep that in mind for the next NYC-area "hey I'm walkin' here" meetup! :)

Socrates Sculpture Park (the one by me) is mostly weird artist-types trying too hard to be cool. Trash bag sculptures, old cars, a single piece of plastic that's supposed to represent our society's wastefulness, that sort of thing :)

As long as they do something interesting with the stuff, I don't mind.

BTW, the Dia is located in an old National Biscuit Company factory. It's 300,000 sq. ft. of floor space. They used to have the entire line of production there. They even had their own train station! The ingredients, paper and inks would enter one end and they'd make the cookies at the same time as they'd print and assemble the boxes before packing everything and shipping to customers by train. Incredibly efficient. They even had over 30,000 sq.ft. of windows to let natural light in as it was cheaper than artificial light...

I haven't been to DIA: Beacon yet, but since it's only about 30 minutes away I should probably do something about that. I have, however, been in and around several other old (and now abandoned) factories in and near Beacon. They are short on sculptures but long on graffiti and decay.

In the meantime, limr and I were at the Storm King Art Center over on the other side of the bridge - that's where her photos and mine in this thread were taken. You want BIG sculptures? That's the place. The thing in the distance in my shot is at least 30ft high. Here's one more since we're on the subject.

Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

There's a former fairground near Trenton that's been made into a sculpture park with Johnson and Johnson money.  I was there last week--here's an unintentional double exposure with my granddaughter checking out Marilyn's underwear and sitting on her foot.

As 02Pilot said, Beacon is very close and we've been there quite a bit but never to Dia yet. Just looked at the website and it definitely seems worth a visit! Going to the Storm King Art Center was sort of a "Well, why not?" sort of decision, just to find something new to take pictures of. It turned out really well, and it'll be interesting to explore a few different ones.

The deconstructed sunflower sculpture I posted in the sunflower thread was from Storm King. Still have two rolls of Arista to develop that I took there, so y'all may be seeing some next week!  ;D

At the weekend I went to Broadstairs to visit a friend who was having a housewarming party, and i took along my Olympus Trip loaded with Lucky SHD100.
There was something going on in town and it included a few nice old cars.
