If it wasn't that shipping from Germany to Canada probably would cost an arm and a leg, I'd definitely be tempted by the Canon  :(

I can have a look Francois. If you're lucky it could be that it's just 7€ (if we stay below 1kg which is quite probable). If not then you're right it's expensive (15€).

I am interested in Urbans Canon too.

I can offer:

- a Konica Big mini BM-302, which has a 35mm f3.5 lens, flash, autofocus. The frontside plastic tab, which holds the viewfinder, flash, exposure meter and autofocus has a little crack though.
It's not in the viewfinder field and it never seemed to have an influence on the automatic unitys. It's a nice looking P&S, but I replaced with a Yashica T-4.

- a Polaroid F119 Close Up Lens (mint condition incl. original case) for Spectra/Image Cameras to offer, since my Image broke...

Great! PM me your address and I'll let you know the postage cost. Oh, and I'll take the Spectra close-up lens!

In return I'm offering an Agfa Click II. It is in very good condition, apart from the leatherette that's peeling off. It comes with a plastic ever-ready case.

Ok folks, the Spectra Close Up lens is going to Urban.

So I'll take the Konica Big mini off at this point.

Looking forward to the Canon AF35ML!

So, we don't have any takers for the Click and the Mju?

Two great cameras just waiting for the taking
Here's the description of the click II
Quote
The Click II and Click I were simple non-focusing cameras for 6x6 images on 120 film.

The Click was yet another cheap Agfa camera designed for the masses, with a one-speed shutter and a few simple aperture options. Unlike its 6x9 brother the Clack, it was completely constructed out of plastic making it quite vulnerable to damage. (If you drop a Click, it will most likely break.) The main differences between the Clack and the Click is the lens: the Clack has a lens of f11 - f16 while the Click has a f8.8 -f11 lens. The Click is 6x6 camera (opposed to the 6x9 of the Clack) and thus is a little more economic. The Click lacks the Clack's socket for a cable release, and it's a mystery why Agfa decided to drop this feature. The Click II had an two-element achromat lens, while the cheaper Click I version had a simple meniscus. The images from the Click II are not bad for such a simple camera.

Viewfinder

One shutter speed (about 1/30th)

Three lens settings:

4m/13ft - Inf with sunny or cloudy (f11 and f8?)

2.5m/8f - 4m/13ft (remains at f8)

Tripod mounting socket in base.

This is one of the classic lo-fi cameras and is quite hard to beat in that sense.

Yes, careful. I might just keep the Click. This is the article (or rather the German version, but never mind) that prompted me to get it: http://ueberlicht.com/2013/agfa-click-ii-more-than-perfect/

Looks like it's my turn to offer something since I'm taking Urban's Click!

My offering is a neat little Jazz Jelly 35mm camera!
It's a bright see through sexy pink model 207.  It's the perfect thing for toy camera madness and shoots regular style and "fake" panorama style photos with the flick of a switch.
It uses a single AA battery (not included) for the onboard flash and will make anyone happy, happy, happy!
Please grab this one up for some extreme fun!
Edit:  It has a wide 27mm optical lens made in China! Woo-hooo!

It can be yours for the price of postage!

I'm glad we cleared that up once and for all ;)

For offer are now:

  • Olympus mju-I from Verian
  • Jazz Jelly 35mm camera from astrobeck

Sorry, Fluminian, but you'll have to take either of these cameras before you can offer one of your own. It just gets too confusing otherwise.

Ok, I think it's time for the poor little Mju to go back in the cupboard. Instead, how about a Canon Datematic!

That's right, the Canon Datematic. The Canon Datematic was a compact rangefinder camera introduced by Canon in 1974, which offered programmed autoexposure (powered by two mercury cells) and a 5-element 40mm f/2.8 lens. But the novel feature was optional date imprinting onto the bottom right corner of the film frame. There is no clock onboard, and so the numbers shown atop the lens barrel must be changed manually when the feature is wanted. Two-digit years only reached up to "83," although a blank space or 0-9 are also possible.
When using a matching Canon electronic flash, the aperture setting adjusts according to the distance focused, giving correct exposure automatically.

STAMP YOUR NEGATIVES with Years that have long since gone - what could be cooler.

OK, the Mju is now officially retired.

We now have a Pink Jellycam with flash and a Canon Datematic.

Who can resist a transparent camera?
Quote
The Jazz 207 is a "focus free" camera with built-in flash which uses 35mm film. Its body is typically made of colored, transparent plastic. It uses one AA battery to power a built-in flash of no great strength. It has a "panorama" mode in which it exposes only the middle 13×36 mm stripe of the film frame. It has a 27mm "optical" lens using a single element, which may show significant blurring in the corners of the frame.

Very similar cameras (with a "27mm Optical Lens" in an oval surround) have been seen with other brandings, for example the Cobra Crystal; or in other slightly different case styles. Jazz is a brand also seen on many cheap digital cameras, such as the Jazz JDC 9.

The datematic looks cool. In addition to confusing your friends with time warp date stamped photos, the optics are good. It is basically a late model of the famed Canonet series. It sounds quite comparable to the Canonet 28 - in fact some folks say the datematic has a better lens than the 28 -  http://pansfilmcameras.blogspot.ca/2011/11/canon-datematic.html?m=1

I should add that the rangefinder on the recent canons is very bright and easy to focus. The cameras are quite quiet and discrete. But unlike the Canonet 28, it has a Seiko Electronic shutter which is reliant on batteries.

Even if the camera was made for Mercury cells, I'm pretty sure it would work flawlessly with some alkalines.

the canonet 28 and ql17 would be fine on alkalines. From what the internet has told me in the past, there are very few cameras that won't actually work well with alkalines.

While we are tossing and turning...don't forget that it might be worth considering taking a camera here as a gift for someone else...since the holidays are nearing.

Don't you have someone on your list that needs a Pink Jazz Jelly panorama camera?
Surely you do!
Come on, promote filmwasting on another level.   8)

I'll even toss in a roll of old film to get you started....

OK, after Fluminian generously offered up his little fuji, I will put something up that from a similar era (OK a couple of years newer)...

I was talking up the Verian's Datematic a few days ago, because it is a fine camera. For those of you who missed the chance, now you get to own the camera the inspired the Datematic!! Yes the legendary Canonet 28!!

The 28 is part of the famous Canonet series. The 28 is one of the smaller Canonets. It is a little bit bigger than something like a Konica C35 but it is a nice size for bringing along when you cannot carry your larger gear. Plus I think it is has a nicer viewfinder & rangefinder patch than something like a C35.

This '28' is extra special as you will be the third 'waster to own it as it was once part of Tintin's livery. That should certainly increase its value.  ::) But that is not the only added value: For the 28 is also a classic "cameras in cinema" camera being front and centre in John Waters' film nerd epic* -- Pecker

But wait! There is more!! It is also the star of some young adult SciFi movie I have never heard of**: I am Number Four

*Despite being a camera nerd, a film nerd, and someone that can tolerate John Waters on a good day, for some reason I have never seen this film.
**Until I just stumbled on it writing this up.  ;)

So take this baby off my hands, and shoot with some Canonet 28 goodness!!

I just want to mention the rules on shipping once again:
The person who wants a camera pays for the shipping. This avoids putting too much of a burden on the giver.
And if the giver insists on paying for postage, please be kind and send a little thank you gift in return.

and receives the item someone else paid the postage for?

We do it this way so that people don't have to put up with excessive postage fees. If I were to put a big Graflex for trade, I'd be happy for the other one to pay for postage... especially if I opt to get my hands on a minox.

That way, it's more fair for everyone.

Whatever, I'll pay postage for my camera going to mcduff and expect that Verian pays the postage for his package to me.

I don't mind paying the postage, although I did also pay postage from the US for the lovely little thing I received from Diane yesterday, thanks Diane.

I'm sorry, Verian. I still think that sender pays the postage is the best system. I don't mind that postage to Canada is more expensive than the one inside Europe.

I'm cool with it.

The main thing is that both exchanging parties are happy with the outcome. But now, I have to drum up some promotion!

We now have a very lovely transparent camera from Becky. This is as lo-fi as it gets and is bound to have a definite place on your shelf. How many transparent cameras have you seen in your life? Not too many I bet! So here's a unique chance to get your grubby hands on one.

And we now have McDuff's very nice Canonet 28. I just bought one a few weekends ago and I must say it is rather lovely. It has a Copal mechanical shutter that is coupled with the meter. If you take the camera off automatic by rotating the aperture wheel, the camera drops in full manual mode with a single shutter speed (1/30 I read somewhere). The lens is a nice 40mm f/2.8 and the viewfinder has bright lines and a scale to show the shutter speed. The rangefinder is very bright and easy to see. I read somewhere that some even considered it the poor man's leica! And the design is just gorgeous...

So who will take one of those beauties home?

I can vouch for the 28. I owned this camera and the QL17 at the same time. I bought them together with a bunch of other rangefinders. I put a test roll through the 28. Loved the results more than my QL17. Personally I like the 28 more than the QL17. Focus wheel is more intuitive, lens seemed sharper. Build quality on these old canons is very good as well.
