Homage to Weston
« on: June 05, 2007, 04:50:00 AM »
I love large format. I don't think the Toyoview- http://filmwasters.com/forum/index.php?topic=622.0 will see a lot of action out on location, but it's sweet to use in the studio. I pulled couple of type 55 's  this last week.

Yeah! I love 55 and it's even better in your hands, Mr Brice. Thanks for posting this. Keep 'em coming. Any news on Toyo-as-pinhole?

Glorious! Those grays. Properly handled Type-55 is a treat. If you do not mind me asking, did you rate it at ISO50 or something less? Thanks! Skj.

Beautiful Homage Don.
Oh I'm getting Toyo envy! Maybe if I come interstate to visit you might let me fetish it for a little while...

Those grays indeed. What a gorgeous photograph...one of many to come I hope. Really abstract in a way...the pose is especially pleasing. Just something about the shoulders, chest and arms that make me stare. Top notch work, Don...

What everyone else said, and the pose is near perfect.
Very nice!

yep- 50, more or less... It's a long time since I'd shot 55 and I didn't really think about my rating. I'd been shooting the same pose with a Diana loaded with TX, so I just opened up about 3 stops and let go. The only lit areas, of her side and leg looked a little 'over' initially, but I'd  wanted the shadow areas to be open enough. The neg looked scarily thin- but then it is a low-key portrait and I remembered that 55 always looks like that at the best of times.
