Show us your still life images ...
« on: June 05, 2013, 03:03:58 PM »
Hi all

this site is getting a bit 'gear-heavy' recently - which was something we actively tried to avoid in the early days - the review/ articles thread was great for that side of things, but the site was about the (film-based) photo, not necessarily the camera from which it emerged.  It's probably not helped by people only posting their new pictures in the weekend threads. You really dont have to do that - in fact, I think pictures look better in new threads and so on - they can often get swallowed up on the sheer weight of content in the weekend threads ....

So, to attempt some redress - please post your new/old/favourite/ most popular/ worst - WHATEVER still life image here.  No gear details, no film type, no anything practically informative - JUST THE PICTURE.

(I know all the arguments about the importance of gear, and 'it's a tool' blah blah blah - but humour me on this one - I'm trying to put the yang back in the yin here)

go on - do it. It would make me happy at least  :D

here's mine:

Mmmm you've just put into words what I had been thinking myself over the past few weeks, especially the bit about not waiting until the weekend thread etc. To add support to your new thread Leon here are a couple of mine.

Since I'm at least in part responsible for the gear discussions, I will attempt to atone by contributing here.

Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

Interesting interpretations of 'still life'. And I like O2Pilot's pun - posting an image of gears in a gear free thread.

Here's mine.

superb work everyone (O2  - like the gears!!).

Seriously - no one person is to blame - in fact I'm as much to blame as anyone else with all my gear toting over the past year or so.

keep them coming people :) I like the variations on the theme and the difference in styles.

this is what filmwasters is all about :)

Great thread!!

I've made various stabs at still life over the years with limited success if I'm honest - I have been thinking about giving it another go recently.  Here are three meagre attempts.

gavechase: Your chair pictures (in addition to being fantastic) remind me of a chair picture of my own. It was taken just to finish off a roll and it ended up being my favorite picture from that batch.
(Forgive the watermark. I do that for pictures I post on my blog and this one was already resized small enough to attach here.)
