Guess where I was last night?
« on: July 16, 2012, 12:50:38 PM »
I was in a big park, with lots of people and we were all singing -

"..... I gotta nyyyyyyyyykon camera, I like to take phoooooooooootographs .............."

Has anyone ever written a song about any other camera?

For the record I had my Nyyyyyyyyyyyykon FM2 there to do some crowd shots, I was a little far back so would have needed one of these to get any stage shots.

I thought that song was about Kodachrome, not so much about Nikons?

(and they took it away. Yes they did. Forever  :'()

It was in Hyde park near speakers corner, there was only a few people there, for London that means 60,000 of his most dear, close and personal friends.

If no hipster band has written a song about a Holga, one really should.

So which hipster band do we vote for?!

I am out of the loop so wouldn't know any of the current names, although Aussie band Hoodoo Gurus would cut a nice tune I am sure.

Secretly, in your heart of hearts, you know you are a Humperdink fan!  And there's nothing wrong with that.....

I don't know really - the hipster bands that I listen to tend to be more retro electronic, so they might make a song about the GameBoy camera but not a Holga.

Surely somebody here wears big glasses and has a guitar.

Sorry but as a long-time Rush fan, I can't let this slander stand!   :)  It's GEDDY Lee.  And Neil Peart (the drummer) writes all the lyrics.  I'll bet if anyone could write a quality song about the Holga, it would be Neil.

Come on, it's a Holga. Certainly it's a Morrissey song. :D

Well, Rush has produced a few songs with photographic connotations (though not necessarily about photography, as such) already:

"The Camera Eye" (Moving Pictures)
"The Analog Kid" (Signals)
"Digital Man" (Signals)

They also had a very good portrait taken by Yousuf Karsh which made an appearance on the reverse of the album cover for "Grace Under Pressure".

Why on earth would Rush (or Neil Peart) want to write a song about a Holga, of all things? Definitely more down Morrisey's street. Maybe even Jedward....?
"An ounce of perception. A pound of obscure".

So, there's a Jack White Holga (and Meg White Diana):

...but then my inner '80s teen realized there's only one correct answer:

Ever so slightly too much red wine down the throat for me to adequately respond to all of the points raised here (music IS my specialist subject after all), but thanks for an entertaining ride!
