What memories this brings back!
I too came here through the Toycamera site. Many years ago, I had joined the toycamera site. I stumbled onto it while doing some research on the Holga (which is in itself a very long story). Problem was that at that time, they were very single minded on what a toy camera was. While I was more interested in the lo-fi aesthetics, for them, a picture that was not taken with a Holga or a Diana simply wasn't a good picture. I tried to join the club and tried as hard as I could to locally source a Holga... but it just wasn't available locally.
Then, Leon (who had a gazillion posts on the forum) announced that they were starting a new site called Filmwasters. I lurked around a bit and then decided to join. For a while, I was keeping up with both sites. But as toycamera became stale and plagued with some internal fights, I decided to definitely jump boat and use Filmwasters as my primary social network. I'm glad I did since I never found a site so open and plain simple to live with around the web.
What I liked mostly is the lack of "gear segregation" present. I could do both high-fi with my Nikon, Lo-fi with a Vivitar. And it was all OK. And now, after oh-so many years, I'm still here. Funny thing is, thinking back, I never even posted an introduction tread! Also, I used to post those almost multi-page messages. Now, I tend to keep things a bit more simple and concise.... Oh well, I'm drifting now.
