Print or Postcard??
« on: May 15, 2022, 07:46:28 PM »
So I wondered if there was that much interest in getting a print or postcard exchange going? I know that I need a kick up the bum to get myself back into the darkroom so maybe you do too.
Put your interest in the replies and whether you prefer print or postcard and see how many we get to respond

I’ve got very lazy hiding behind my iPhone so a postcard exchange would be great to kick me into doing something more purposeful.

I'd be up for a postcard exchange thing.
I've wanted to fire up the enlarger anyway, so it would be a good thing!
Count me in if you get it going.

I'm up for both. I haven't made a proper print in years and would probably need a bit of lead time to get my act together. :)

I'm in as long as no one is offended by inkjet printing.
Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

I would be up for postcards but I'm not setup to do printing any more.

Splendid idea Irv... herding us out of a collective stupor again..!
Would be good to get involved.
Happy with either option, with the caveat as "O2" mentioned, as long as an inkjet print is acceptable.

I'm happy with both alternatives, depending on the time frame. I'm heading north in a few days and won't be able to produce anything before mid August.

Sadly, I won't be able to join this time.
I just checked the post office and the price of stamps has gone up once more. At 3.25$ for a single international stamp, that puts this exchange way outside my budget.

Wow, that is expensive for a card! Over here we are at 95 cents after the latest price increase.

I would be happy to send you a card anyway, if we get an exchange going.

I know, when the clerk told me that I almost fell on the floor!
Even national stamps are b*%%$y expensive (sorry but I just had to swear).
And I'm not even mentioning packages. Like I need a new video card for my computer (some software have stopped working with the updates because my computer's onboard video card is "too old"), I found one cheap on eBay, it comes from Saskatoon and I live in Quebec, and the cheapest shipping the guy could find is 19$ for a small package. When I think of the cost of the ship-anywhere boxes in the US, I just feel like crying.
And the quality of the service, while second to none, can only be measured in the negative scale... horrible in every way.

But thanks for offering to send one :)

Sorry for my absence this week - it been a busy one
So that is 10 of us at the moment, I'll give it till the end of the month (May), then start collating addresses, postcards seem the most preferable.
I don't think it matters if it's inkjet or traditional it's all about the involvement and fun.
I did wonder whether we should theme it or just play it loose, -any thoughts?
Francois is there a way you could participate by sending yours as a e-postcard, I'm sure people would mind getting one that way if it allows you to join in?

I don't know... I still think I'll pass on it.
e-postcards are never really as nice as the real thing (especially with all the stuff I add to the back).
But still, thanks for the offer... I'll really have to think about this one.

Okay as it's the first of the month, time to this going and postcards seem the most popular
Looks like it will be the 10 of us so if you still want to participate PM me your address and let me know if you wish to send a card to everyone or just 1 particular person.
Once I have everyone's address I will send them them around to each of you and you can post your cards in your own good time, I think we'll just keep a anything goes theme like before.

Shout if you haven't got them, I am working away for the rest of the week so hopefully everyone has received them.
We wont set an immediate time limit to get the cards sent by just do it as you can and have fun doing it.

I'm annoyed I missed this, exam, marking and viva season has been preoccupying my time and attention.

I'd love to send prints of some images I've been pleased with, and (still) not driving much means I'm not paying for extortionate petrol prices, so I'm content with print and postage costs.

I'll PM my address etc just in case I've not missed the boat!
