I took my Harman Titan 5x4 pinhole camera to my boat, fixed it to the back of the boat then took a 30-sec exposure, with an orange filter, to see what happened. My (small) yacht is moored on the Thames by the cable car at North Greenwich, you can see one of the support towers in this photo. The boat is constantly moving, sometimes quite a lot when the wash from a passing tug comes by, so it produces an painterly effect of sharpness and blur, which isn’t a focus-related bokeh. The front of the boat is about 24ft from the camera and is in focus, but the pontoon beside it and the neighbouring yacht are not. which is interesting. I’m going on a week’s sailing trip around the Thames Estuary and up to the Suffolk coast soon and will take the camera and a box of film with me and see what comes out. (Foma 200, PMK)
