Pardon me for starting this week as well, but no weekend without a weekend thread.  :P

I took my Harman Titan 5x4 pinhole camera to my boat, fixed it to the back of the boat then took a 30-sec exposure, with an orange filter, to see what happened. My (small) yacht is moored on the Thames by the cable car at North Greenwich, you can see one of the support towers in this photo. The boat is constantly moving, sometimes quite a lot when the wash from a passing tug comes by, so it produces an painterly effect of sharpness and blur, which isn’t a focus-related bokeh. The front of the boat is about 24ft from the camera and is in focus, but the pontoon beside it and the neighbouring yacht are not. which is interesting.  I’m going on a week’s sailing trip around the Thames Estuary and up to the Suffolk coast soon and will take the camera and a box of film with me and see what comes out. David, that's a great picture, it reminds me of that scene from The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, where the sea stays steady  as a rock and the buildings keep washing up and down.

Hi all,

I've been a bit inactive lately, but here are a couple of shots from 3 weeks ago. I walked during golden hour on the "wrong side" of town.

Pentax 6x7, 105mm 2.4 + Tiffen 812 filter. Fuji Provia 100f expired in 2001(2?), exposed at ISO 64.

Nice shots Miguel, I love shooting on the wrong side of town. Much more interesting than the squeaky clean side of town.  ;)

I must admit that gentrified neighborhoods quickly get boring, especially when the places belong to people who use them only when they come to the city for a visit.

While most city planners disagree with this, I once heard that the vibrancy of a city can be measured by the number of graffiti per square mile... and somehow I think it's right. It might not be what is politically acceptable in terms of activity but it is more active nonetheless.
