An ordinary day in extraordinary times
« on: April 11, 2020, 07:22:11 PM »
One of the big newspapers in Montreal asked its photographers to photograph 24 hours in the same day.
Due to the mandatory isolation that's in place, things are much different than the usual bustling metropolis that is the city.

Some pretty nice pictures in there.

I don't know how you'd translate "Lucie la mouffette qui pete contre les ratons morons", but Google translates it as "Lucie the skunk who farts against morons" ;D

Pretty close.
It's actually "Lucy the skunk who farts against the moronic raccoons".
You just gotta love children's books  ;D

Now I want that book. Maybe I can be a child just beginning to learn French? ;D (none of that is inaccurate, except that I'm not learning French ;) )

I must say we probably have the weirdest children's books in French.
I remember seeing at the bookstore a small book that had a title that translates to "the little mole that got crapped on the head"... Can't tell what the story is all about.

BTW, the bagel place is the one that makes the best bagels in town.

Better than St-Viateur? That's the only one I went to while in town, and I fell in love with Montreal bagels there :-* Me, a #1 asshole New Yorker who would rather be eaten alive by NYC subway rats than admit that any bagel is better than ours (specifically Murray's!) ;D But St-Viateur bagels are different, not better ;) Just as awesome as Murray's :)

Also the same with pizza. No pizza in the world is better than NYC, except Napoli. I mean, they invented it, so they can have the prize ;)

Speaking of children’s books here’s Samuel L Jackson reading one about social distancing.

I love bagels, whenever I go to New York that’s a large part of my diet.  I would like to try some Montreal bagels some time, I’ve heard they are very good.  I have to drive 90 minutes to get the best bagels in Washington state, the Bagelry in Bellingham.  Luckily I have friends up there that bring them to me when they come here.
