Here's a good write-up in The Guardian about the Rough Stuff Fellowship, founded in 1955 (and still going) for cyclists who like off-road cycling - well before the advent of mountain bikes. Some great (film) photos of their more extreme activities, drawn from a book the club put together this year. I will be buying the book.
