Weekend 02 August 2019
« on: August 02, 2019, 09:41:29 AM »
It's been quite some time since I started one of these threads. My photos are B&W conversions of photos taken on my Holga 120N using Portra 800 whilst out taking photographs with Charles Binns and Mrs LD a month or two back.  We were at a very wet and grey Heybridge Basin on the marshland / mud creek that joins the North Sea a mile or two down river.

Nice start Late Developer, I like the shots of beached boats, not something you see where I am unless something went horribly wrong.

These are from a recent visit to Crater Lake.  Baby Rolleiflex with Konica 160 that expired in 2006, metered at ISO 100.  I just posted some Kodak HIE shots of Crater Lake in the Photo Essay section.

A Holga, and with colour film, is perhaps the best thing to use in a downpour.  They look like old liths.

It's odd, Bryan, how that ice looks as though it's been badly Photoshopped into place ... I've seen the effect before and I guess it's down to the high reflectance and sharp edges.

It took a while to get a roll of 35mm colour developed from my trip to Hereford last month. Learned a lesson though - using a 35mm canister in an A24 Hassyback is fine as long as you don't load it into a take-up canister at the other end. Stick to winding it onto a 120 spool, as this one jammed half way along.  Not too important though, as the film was 25 year old Superia. I was happily surprised to get this.

I think what you're seeing there is the snow melting away from the warm ground and rocks leaving a shaded gap.  Plus it is very bright and reflective.  I'm not good enough with Photoshop to add snow, not even badly.

Yes, looking again I can see shadow under a lip, and then with the contrast appearing to 'lift' it off the surface.

Some great work again this week. I really like the first shot, Paul, you see you can work a Holga!

Here are a couple more from my (slightly undefined) Thames project.

It took me nearly a month to get this roll dev'd. Halina Prefect + Fuji Acros (the old dead kind) + yellow filter, at the June Bug Rally.

Great shots everyone.

I took my Lipca Rollop I out for a spin last week and it was a really enjoyable experience. I really need to use it more often. Shot on Rollei Retro 80S, dev'ed in Caffenol-C-H (RS).

Last Monday, I visited the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology near Lisbon.  Part of the museum is a new building—accessed by a footbridge to the roof—that houses temporary exhibitions and the other part is an old electricity generating plant, restored to its 1920s appearance.  I spent five hours and four rolls of film there.  The MAAT is now my favorite museum.
