An old shot from 2005 that I just upsized. Cutting Teeth was one of the first selective defocus shots I made with the Surveyor 4x5 view camera shortly after I completed it. Opposing tilts and swings on both front and rear standards. The 'teeth' was a leftover rack from building the Surveyor.

Shot on Ilford Pan F 50, box speed, and developed in DD-X 1:4 for 6 minutes.

This is from Tmax 400, developed with the same chemicals as above but for 8 minutes. When I was scanning it, I started sliding the levels curve and somehow ended up having a vignetting effect, which I left. I also didn't convert the image to "B&W', and left it as the scanner picked it up.

Great start Sandeha and Miguel! There hasn't been much else to photograph around here but snow. Olympus ∞ Stylus Epic Zoom 80 with Ilford Delta 100 developed in Beer. Either the camera has problems or the cold was affecting it. Many of the shots had serious vignetting like part of the zoom mechanism was not positioned properly. I had to crop it out of several shots but some came out good. Anyone want an Olympus ∞ Stylus Epic Zoom 80 with a broken battery door and other possible problems for the price of shipping?

AJ, the "peeling paint" shot almost caused a déjà vu in my mind because there's a scene just like that at a place nearby. Where did you take that shot?

Also last Friday I took out my Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic, which I've not used for ages and never really got on with because the pictures are just too darn small!

Maybe the film was a bit out of date, because it wasn't quite this bleak...

Was it cold? I know I always process the film in my mittens during winter...

Looking at the box it was about three months out of date and I think that was from the last few shots on a pack which had been in the camera for months. Wasn't particularly cold.

I've used Instax that's a year out of date without any problem...

I like the faded Instax colours. Since Polaroid was killed, I use Instax quite a lot - and its very predictability disappoints me. I liked the Pola artifacts - if I wanted to record reality, I used to shoot E6. I tried putting Instax in the fridge after exposure to try and create some atmosphere, but all it did was prolong the exposure time. The colours were true to the Instax pallette. So I tried to microwave them. Not in my oven, obviously. I also put them in someone else's toaster. Both 'processes' added character. I seem to recall that they also filled the room with smoke. When a manager came into the kitchen to ask if I could smell smoke, I blamed a neighbouring farmer for burning crops. Ah - the joy of working in the countryside.

Lara got me a Leica Sofort (Instax mini sort of thing) for my birthday the year they came out. I really like the Instax colours and they're a lot more predictable than the "Polaroid" (previously TIP) results I get from my SX70 (though the latest iteration of that is infinitely better than the original "here today, gone in a month or two" version.

Have you tried the Leica branded "Instax Mini" film? It's available in colour and B&W. I haven't done a like for like test but Leica said that it isn't identical to the Fuji version.

I've never toasted or microwaved the output (nor am I about to try) but it certainly seems to improve developing by putting it into a packet and keeping it in an inside jacket pocket, where it's a bit warmer.

I just hope that the Leica branded B&W isn't anything at all like the Fuji Monochrome. This stuff is horrible!
They call it monochrome but when you look closely, there is some color. It's just very low saturation.
While at first look it's fun and nice, the more you look at it the more you see tinges of color. The grass is a very faint green and the sky a very faint blue. A bit like one of those C41 B&W films that gets badly treated by a local minilab. But the difference is that you can't reprint an Instax...

I haven't tried the Leica mono film. I just assumed it was re-branded Fuji. Thanks for the tip - I'll try some and see what it's like.

I also thought that. I'm really surprised to hear that they're different as I don't expect Fuji to make special low volume productions of anything, especially if they don't put their name on it.
