Good morning/afternoon, everybody, Hope that everyone has had a good week so far.

Let's get started this "bright and early". Here are a couple of shots taken with the Fuji GS645s last weekend in NYC. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best outing since, and completely by my fault, the rolls I shot were not tight enough when removing from the camera and they light leaked some frames. Lesson learned. Other than that, the camera is a joy to use, even though it makes a weird sound when rewinding the roll before taking it out (once the roll is over) until it releases the tension. Sounds like needs some lubrication.

First shot was on Fuji Velvia 100, metered for the highlights.

I had that exact same problem with my GS645S when using Fuji films, but never with Kodak. I attributed it to the backing paper, with the Fuji perhaps being a bit more slick or polished than Kodak. Try film from a different manufacturer and see if you have the same problem. I "solved" the problem by removing film in the dark and immediately wrapping it in foil, plus a note to the lab.

This was at 450X magnification, 45X objective and a 10X eyepiece.  The exposure was about 25 seconds.  The film is expired Kodak Panatomic-X semi-stand developed in 1:100 R09 (Rodinal).  These are feathers on the trailing edge of a mosquito's wing.  I think they actually consider them scales but they really look a lot like feathers to me.

It looks somewhat like an old line drawing...and it also makes me think of some fantastical landscape.

There will be more geeky nerdy stuff.  Right now I'm growing some crystals that will be very colorful with polarized light.

Very fascinating shot, Bryan, especially if you know what you're looking at. I'd never have guessed it was what it was. Very well executed. Also kudos to Kai, I wouldn't have expected these rather pastel like nature shots from you. Great job!

I tried some urban photography with my Olympus 35RC. Shot on Lomo 400, developed by myself. I'm getting the hang of C-41 development, however, the CineStill Cs41 blix that didn't stink when I used it for the first time stank horribly today, a few days after mixing it.

It's a straight shot from the objective to the eyepiece to the film, no prism.  The contrast is enhanced with a diaphragm under the condenser.

I find it a bit strange that you actually found an intact mosquito wing to photograph.
When I find them, they're usually bent into strange shapes and in non-working condition
(few people know this but my neandertal ancestors were actually expert mosquito hunters, I believe I still have a few of their genes which get expressed in my lightning fast reflexes when I'm in presence of flying insects  )

Shot this back on the 1st June, Ektar 100 in a Leica IIIf, in the grounds of Arundel Castle, but only just got around to developing it. Didn't shoot anywhere near as much colour film as I meant to this year, alas.

There's a certain 'folk horror' and/or Pertwee era Dr. Who feel about this one, I think.

As Sunday is the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, I thought I'd pull a couple of pictures from my family archive, of my grandfathers. Both served with the US Army, my dad's father in a Sanitation (Medical) company, my mom's father as a cook for the enlisted men. Like many of their generation, they were older when they enlisted, aged 26 and 30, respectively, and were proud of their service. I was fortunate in being able to know and spend time with them when I was growing up.

~1917_004 - my dad's father, during basic training. Taken with the common "soldier's" camera of the time, the Vest Pocket Kodak, on 127 nitrate; scan of the original negative.

~1944_a_007 - my mother's father in his Army uniform, with my uncle (Mom's younger brother) who was headed to Europe for WW2. To the best of my knowledge, taken with a Voigtlander 116 rollfilm camera, also from the original negative.

Miguel, That second shot is so cool. the circles from the backing paper look like bubbles rising from the bubble maker. How fortuitous!
Bryan, My high school biology teacher used to call them "photomicrographs". Not sure why that stuck with me all these years.

Mine are on Ultrafine Extreme 100 in the Ondu Multiformat configured for 6x6. 10 second exposures of a local stream/"falls". Dev'd in a mix of 1+2 My-Tol and 1:100 Parodinal for 11 minutes.
