polaroid petition
« on: November 23, 2007, 05:55:12 PM »
some people have put together a polaroid petition to fuji:

To:  Fujifilm Corporation

As you know, the original Polaroid SX-70 materials had a gelatin emulsion that could be manipulated to produce a wide range of artistic effects. Their discontinuance has deprived many photographers of a unique form of expression.

There's a substantial, continuing demand for these products. Their reintroduction ? especially as reasonably priced 600-speed materials that could be used in a wider range of cameras ? would meet with an enthusiastic response.

Because there are no alternative materials, the production of a manipulable integral film will not cannibalize sales of other instant-picture products.

We therefore petition you, Fujifilm, to consider the introduction of an instant film as described above.

i'm not sure how likely it is to succeed, but it's a nice attempt.

apparently, there are plans for a petition to kodak about the discontinuance of their infrared film too.

I signed, but what I'm wondering is: shouldn't it say 'manipulatable' instead of what is there now, 'manipulable'??

Oxford English Dictionary:-
manipulable, a. -     Able to be manipulated; flexible, tractable.

manipulatable, a. -   = MANIPULABLE a.

So I expect it's either.  I think yours is the US spelling and the original is the English version.

Ooops. My bad. I forgot we Yanks can't spell.

Further complicating matters is the fact that I learned most of my 'English' from watching EastEnders.

Does this mean we now get four years of Fuji? Could be worse?
