Weekend June 22 to 24, 2018
« on: June 22, 2018, 04:17:20 PM »
I stuck a sheet of expired Kodak T-Max 100 4x5 film into my Polaroid 800 Land Camera.  It wastes a bit of real estate on the film but it does give you the nice round corners.  The film fits perfectly in the camera.  Developed in Beer.

This is the Mossy Creek Bridge built in 1920 near Cottage Grove, OR., one of many covered bridges in the area.

Haven't had much time to take pictures, but these are two portraits I took this past week.

Nice shot, Bryan. Do you carry a changing bag or just shoot one picture and then go home? Just curious ..........

I carried a changing bag plus an old 4x5 film box to put my exposed shots in.  I like to develop two sheets at a time in a stainless steel developing tank.

I love the rounded corners, Bryan. Plus, very good resolution from those 4x5 negs.

Kai-San, how do you like that Adox film?

The Adox CHS 100 II has over the last three to four years become one of my favourite films. It's an orthopanchromatic film that gives you proper blacks and whites, and very nice tones in between. Nothing of the grayness of Ilford HP5+. In fact I'm so fed up with HP5+ that I recently traded 35 rolls of it for 35 rolls of Kodak Portra 400. Right now it's difficult to find this Adox film since they're in the process of moving into new facilities that will double their capacity. But when it's available again I will go for a batch of 120 rolls, have not shot it in that format yet.

That is awesome. I will definitely try it eventually.

Since I am sure everyone is busy with all the football going on (Arriba España!), I am adding one more picture from yesterday, during my friend's daughter's high school graduation party.

Yeah, looks like we'll have to do the work for them. Here's another Adox CHS shot from earlier this year, taken with my Leningrad rangefinder and Jupiter 8 lens.
By the way, I really liked your B&W portrait, Miguel. I'm not very fond of Tri-X, but this one was really nice!

Sunday kind of love, indeed.

Here are two from last week, taken on tourist jaunts while showing my sister some of Portugal.  The first is a strap on the famous Electrico No. 28 in Lisboa.  The second is the staircase and skylight in the Centro Português de Fotografia—actually and old prison—in Porto.  Both were on Fomapan 100, developed in RO9 (semi-stand), exposed in an Olympus OM1 with a 50mm lens.

I love that second shot, Blaxton.

We have an old prison here in Philadelphia, the Eastern State Penitentiary, which was purchased by a private company and now runs events, such as a Halloween "haunted prison" and other zombie-related things. It also runs tours of the cells with the history of the inmates, including the cell where Al Capone was once held. I have never been there myself but I am definitely going this summer and snap some B&W + Color shots in MF.

Thanks Miguel.  The CPF has long been a favorite.  It's nice to be able to show it to visitors—even to those who may not share my interest in photography—in part, because of the interesting building.  I will be sure to check out the Eastern State Penitentiary when I am next in the city of brotherly love.
