A pinhole camera is the lowest tech for a DIY camera. In a pinch, wrap black construction paper around a cardboard box, tape a piece of photo paper inside to one end and put the pinhole on the other end. Aluminum from a drinks can supply material for the pinhole.
Of course this assumes you have photo paper with dev, stop and fix handy. The other quick option is a homemade pinhole body cap for your 35mm SLR. Either of these options can be fabricated in a couple of hours.
