Weekend 2nd -4th June 2017
« on: June 02, 2017, 08:21:35 AM »
It's Summer already !

Here's a vintage car in Richmond, North Yorkshire, shot on 35mm Ektar.

The lens was a 35-70mm Tamron Adaptall, probably attached to a Mamiya ZM.

Haven't shot anything this weekend yet, however, I do have a question regarding Portra 160, if anyone has any tips for it.

I'll be using it on a partially sunny/slightly overcast day, outdoors, on a subject with pale skin. I've been reading that Portra 160 has slightly less flexibility in terms of exposure than its 400 ISO counterpart. Any advice as to whether under/over expose by a certain much or just shoot at box speed, metering as usual and then see what comes out?

I also have a roll of HP5 that I'll try to use the same day as well, for more immediate results as the chemicals my girlfriend ordered from Freestyle haven't arrived yet (C-41 kit).

Thanks! and great shots! I love the vintage car, Kevin.

Mine are from two weeks ago. All with a recently adcquired Kowa Six and Provia 100F. Yes, I like colour  :)

These last two ones are completely burnt, but still retain something... And I do love the result  8) A problem with the new camera and its easy moving controls  :-[

It may be summer (almost), but just a couple weeks ago I was greeted with this scene when I stepped out of the hotel room in the morning. Hexar AF, Ektar.

Yes, that is fresh snow. That's what happens at 7700 feet ASL.

A little post-war exuberance in the form of a 1949 Cadillac, which paved the way for even more chrome over the next decade. Leica M6 and Kodak ColorPlus 200.

I love all that chrome Earl!  I took out my Kodak Signet 36 for a test run after replacing the rangefinder beam splitter.  It's amazing how much difference it made.  The film is Ilford Delta 100 developed in beer.

Great start to the weekend here! Really enjoying Reinhold's image as well as Kai's industrial photos. MacArron, the colours in that first shot are to die for!

Summer is here and it with it 30 degree weather, being used to the temperature being nearly 30 below means the heat really gets to me. Thankfully that hasn't kept me from getting out and taking some photos this week!

Having just moved to my summer digs, I don't yet have film developing capabilities.  (I hope to be up and running within the week.)  These four are from a walk, last week, in Elm Park, Worcester, Massachusetts.  All are from a roll of Arista EDU 100, exposed in an Olympus 35RC and developed in Caffenol C-L.

Loving the diversity this weekend. Earl's chrome and Chris' flower are particularly appealing.

I finally coaxed an image out of the giant roll of Kodak Recordak microfiche film I got. It does not like parodinal at all, but it warmed right up to X-tol. The highlights are blown, but I was going for a high contrast image that I could develop by inspection under red light. Next we will see what kind of scale I can get out of it.

This is a bit better, though it was quite underexposed (at iso 1!).

I use Portra 160 in my old Diana and like the results quite a lot.
Since it's print film, I wouldn't really worry too much about getting it 100% right on exposure.

This weekend was a bit of a mess. I shot some color film, including Portra 160, which I'll get developed at home (hopefully soon). I also dabbled into my first experience with night photography. Here are a couple of pictures shot in Tri-X 400, 30" exposure time. I would have liked to have a wider lens, perhaps a 35mm, for these shots but I'll get comfortable with the 50mm as an everyday lens at some point.

I also don't know the exact dilution in which I developed these shots.... I lost my little cough syrup measuring cup (20ml) and just filled half a 35mm canister with Ilfosol 3 and cut developing time by 1 minute.

I haven't been around for a while and have barely picked up a camera of late.  Here's 3 from a few years ago - when I had my XPan. Shot on very expired XP2 Super for that mottled look!

I love it. That reminds me of an organic chemistry prof back in college that told me to dilute a solution. I asked, "What dilution should I do?". He responded, "From a little to a little more." From that moment on, this has become an acceptable strategy when doing photo development, chemistry, cooking, mixing drinks, etc.

Evening, gents.

I'm slowly slowly slowly starting to remember that I actually know how to use a camera.

Here's my favorite so far from our recent trip to Colorado. Lubitel 166B, Ektar.

I'm usually fine with that happening while serving/getting served some alcohol. For pictures... I should stick to the measured chemicals instead.  :-\

You've missed the best of them now, sadly.

The moors are coming to life though!

I went to Stanton Moor last week. It was gorgeous. These are the Nine Ladies, right in the middle. Magical.
