Advice sought - wireless flash trigger
« on: January 03, 2017, 02:26:18 PM »
I realise this is not necessarily film centric, but I hope someone can help.

I have a flash lighting kit from these people: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Fotobyte-uk-camera-accessories

The little trigger stopped working recently. I am not sure what frequency it works on (ie is there a cheap alternative).

They seem to sell the whole kit here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trigger-Remote-studio-flash-wireless-4-Channel-SONY-MINOLTA-A33-A550-A500-Camera-/112031485883?hash=item1a1598cfbb

I only need the little trigger (in the centre).

Actually I just found this on my phone, so maybe there is another company that makes them to the same spec?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

TIA

I would go back to the supplier to see if they can supply just the transmitter on its own. If not, then you may have to buy the lot. I wouldn't assume another transmitter would work, even if it uses the same frequency.

Definitely don't assume that because things look the same on the outside that they will have the same things on the inside.

Did you check the battery? I know it's a dumb question but you never know. Could also be oxide on the contacts...

Thanks

I did email them and they replied that they sold the transmitter separately, but the guy sent me a link to the whole kit again:

http://photo-bright.co.uk/trigger-remote-studio-flash-wireless-4-channel-sony-minolta-a33-a550-a500-camera-99-p.asp

I reread the ebay listing and thought it said no battery was necessary for the transmitter (as it is powered via the camera), but it's actually the receiver, so I will try and open it up and see what's in there.

Cheers (I will keep you posted)!

I think you might see a battery like the ones used in remote starters for cars. It's usually a small 12 volt thing.

On the box in the picture it says 23A 12V battery. I think they also use those in things like garage door remote controls.
