There's a series starting on BBC at the end of the month which should be of interest, if you can access BBC Four that is -

I can't wait for this. If it's anything as good as the last photography series, it will definitely be worth a watch. Apparently the first episode follows Abelardo Morrell setting up a Camera Obscura and will be PERFECT to show my pinhole workshop students.

Will be interested to see if people outside of the UK can watch content from the BBC's iPlayer. Maybe someone could let us know?

I watched the 1st episode last night and it was pretty good; definitely worth watching. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I wasn't able to find it at that link... ???

I was able to play some of the other shows however, so it seems if I could find it, I'd be able to watch it through there...

BIG APOLOGIES ALL!  I just assumed that all the BBC content was released on the iplayer,  but it seems not.  For some reason, it seems they have chosen not to show the Genius of Photography season!  typical.

Just watch the DVD shelves once the series is over :)

I hope PBS will buy the show in the States... I can get their station cross border.

Film is the vinyl record of photography.

Getting all our hopes up for nothing... perhaps it will show up a bit later...

My local bookshop has the companion book. Only JPY7500. It appears to be an adjunct to the series, and not just a verbatim regurgitation. Anyone else seen this? Thanks! Skj.

Being in Canada as well, I thought I would have to wait for PBS to show the series, but then I was able to download it from the internet. I've watched the first 5 installments so far and have really enjoyed them. It has brought some photographers to my attention that I didn't know about, and the university library has been a good source for follow-up information.

Here in the US it was on Ovation TV last month, so I'm assuming they'll rerun it sometime. (I don't know if you get that in Canada).

Check their site: www.ovationtv.com

Was it a slow download? Maybe I can rip them using the Public library's connection... as long as it is downloadable within one hour

Francois, it was P2P so it took several hours per episode. Not public library friendly unfortunately.
