Kodak backing paper markings now invisible?
« on: October 13, 2016, 07:05:33 AM »
I just picked up a five pack of Ektar 120, loaded two rolls into two cameras and ran into the same problem on both. Wound all the way on to number 3 before seeing any of the numbers. And even then they're barely visible. Has anybody else had this problem? (I've shot tons of Ektar in the past and never had an issue). I've thought about taking the pack back to the shop where I got it, but I feel like they wouldn't exchange it for me since I already loaded two rolls.

I know Ondu had a similar problem with Kodak film. For some reason big yellow decided to move the 6x9 markings just enough so that if you have a slightly too small frame counter hole the frames become invisible.

Actually Kodak has a huge quality problem. Paint from the numbers of the backing paper exposing the emulsion chemically, dirt in 35mm canisters, whole batches of all brands affected, professional users not amused, this could be the end if they don't react quickly. A very bad development since Alaris is the new owner.
