Topic: Best film for colour flash photography?

I'm going to the Hull Horror Fest next month and all I know is there will be lots of people dressed up and that it will be indoors, so I might want to shoot colour and I may well need a flash.

First any colour negative film easily available in 35mm, and what would you choose from the following

Ektar
Agfa Vista 200
Fuji Extra 400
(Those are what I have but I can order more if needed)

Examples are always welcome, but only with flash

Why not shoot at 1600? That's generally worked for me shooting bands in dark clubs. Of course, the lighting is very different, it's dark with some sort of degree of stage lighting (often quite dark itself). Here's some Kodak Gold 400 pushed to 1600:

OR, get Portra 400 and shoot it at 1600 with no push at all:

I'm going to throw two ideas down.
Why not shoot Xpro? There's bound to be plenty of zombies and the odd color cast would definitely help in making things more grotesque.
Try and shoot the flash off camera. By setting the flash low to the ground, you can enhance the creepiness of the whole thing.

First of all, I must say that I've never shot anything similar. That said, what I'd do is, based on your initial ideas, choose the Fuji Xtra 400 as film. That would allow you to get a lot of background without extremely long exposure speeds. Then, knowing your flash GN, set the power to a medium value to illuminate people within your desired range. And fingers crossed, as always :-)

AFAIK, the higher the film sensitivity, the better adaptability to lighting conditions. I mean, Portra 160 is not as flexible as Portra 400.

I have no examples. Sorry. But this is what I would do, or at least, that would be my first thought.

I thought about pushing, but wanted to keep my options open as I have no idea on the lighting in the venue (Nice shots btw Satish)

Xpro is something I want to do, but the price of slide film puts me off, even with my last big film order. I'm planning the off camera flash, I've borrowed some kit from a friend, who I lent an EOS 3 in return so hopefully another film convert

I think I will start with the 400, all tho I could turn up and decide it needs Tri-x.....
