I am going to copy and paste the same info from last years Postcard Exchange, as everything pretty much stays the same. Looks like the dates work out also!

Ed has given me his permission to open up the 2016 Filmwasters Postcard Exchange.

Hope we have lots of people wanting to play! Details are as follows:

1)   Sign up by August 30 if you want to play.
PM me your name and postal address with country and also your e-mail address.
I need your e-mail address to contact you since the forum only allows two private messages an hour.  If you don't send me your e-mail, it will take longer to get your list of names.

2)   Names will be sorted the week after sign-up closes.
Since we have Filmwasters from around the globe, I'll sort and divide the collected names into manageable groups (usually about 12 per group) to keep the cost of printing and postage at a manageable level. If you want to send to everyone who has signed up not just those on your list please let me know when you sign up. I will regularly update this topic with numbers of players.
Next I'll make a list of the sorted names and addresses and send them to everyone that signed up. Lists will be with you by September 6.

3)   Postcards should be sent out by October 1
Cards can be printed in the darkroom, with inkjet printers or commercially on any paper (6x4 or 5x7 inches is recommended)
The important thing is the negative used to make the print must be analogue capture be it film, paper negative or Instant film.

The subject matter is entirely up to you and it's not a competition either, so have fun with it!

You can send a copy of the same print to everyone on your list, or you can make different prints for each person, it's up to you.

Details about the image such as location, camera and film type/capture written on the back with a short message are appreciated but that's up to you.

Stamp, address and then sign the cards so we know who they are from and drop them in the mail.

This is always a lot of fun, so don't miss out.

Once again the important dates to remember are:

August 30 = last day to sign up.
September 6 = names sorted into groups and lists sent to participants.
October 1 = deadline to send out your cards.

Any questions just let me know or reply to this topic.

And Thank you to Harvey as I used a lot of his wording for this!

Thanks Diane for your time.

If I understand you correctly, there will be groups of 12 people and I must send a postcard to every person in my group, so I will send 12 postcards, that's it?

Unless you want to send more! You can request to be put on each list, which I recommend. I didn't do this the first time around and regretted it, so I make sure to be on all lists going forward.

The printers I've ordered from in the past usually have a minimum order (hint: it's greater than 12), so unless you're lucky enough to be sending wet prints, you'll probably have leftovers. Postage can get up there for weird sizes (oversized or odd-shaped, like my square cards last year), so if you do that, I'd recommend using an envelope.

I really, really look forward to this exchange each year. Thanks for taking the baton, Diane!

Hi Domingo, if it's 12 in a group (including you), it's only 11 cards.  I get a local lab to print mine on 4x6 or 5x7 photo paper and then dry mount onto postcards.  It's a lot cheaper and more fun than having to order 50 minimum as some commercial printers insist.

Thank you Chad and Paul..this can be a bit confusing for those who have not participated on previous exchanges. It pretty much depends on how many sign up. If we were to only have ten sign up then it is pretty straight forward. If we have 25 or thirty I would make two groups an
at which point you would only need to send to those in your group but you could opt to send to both groups. I will let everyone know how many we have signed up as we go along. Please feel free to ask as many questions as needed to clarify though I think this pretty much covers everything.

I should add, don't be limited to normal types of printing. I did some cyanotype post cards last year. A lot of fun, even if they weren't perfect. I really enjoyed the process..be creative! We all love the idea of receiving unique art.

We all love the idea of receiving unique art.

Received some splendid cards last year... including one of Diane's beautiful cyanotypes, and I'd love to be involved again this year.

I put mine in envelopes last year, mainly due to the clarity of using address labels (my handwriting is shocking - almost illegible) and my royal mail online postage account, and will likely do the same this year.

Please count me in, Diane... and thanks for organising this years event.

PM on the way...

I have just put together the list of names for the postcard exchange..If for some reason you have not sent me an email or messaged me with your info please do so asap.
It seems we have two members who have had to drop out for lack of time this year so those people are James Harr and also Domingo A. Siliceo...if that is NOT correct please let me know.

I've got a photo lined up but I'm looking for a UK postcard printer who can accommodate square prints.  If I don't find one by next weekend, I'll just get square prints done and fix them to some card.

Might be close to the wire but I'm getting there...... ::)

I think MOO will do fewer than 50 but I'm not sure they do square.  I'll be doing some research next week.  I know Snappy Snaps will do short print runs - but they seem very pricey.  I'd love to darkroom print them but I don't have a darkroom these days (nowhere to put one).  A way will be found to get them done, though....

Oooh, I got mine too! Cyano pinhole - so cool! And on top of all that, there's a Ringling Brothers stamp, which just seals the awesomeness :)

I have paper for the cards and am about 95% sure of the image I want to use, so mine should be going out in a few days.
