Ilfosol 3 is yellow like a lemon
« on: April 01, 2016, 04:51:57 AM »
Got some yellow ilfosol 3 over here, and was bout to develop my two rolls of pan-f. & havent found an exact straight answer on google, if it will do the job or not, so im looking for the okay from you guys.

i got some dd-x which is super new, so i have some backup. i usually just use dd-x for hp5, thats all i been shooting lately.
but this ilfosol has been there for about three months maybe a bit more, not too sure, its half full though. i think ive developed with it being yellow, but dont remember, and dont wanna chance it.

hope you all have been good! haven't been on here in a bit!

I can't answer your question directly, but I had the same question a few days ago about a half bottle of X-Tol that had some stuff floating around the bottom. So I did a strip test, it turned black, question answered. Cut a piece of your leader and dunk half of it in a few mL of the dev for the recommended time, then throw the whole thing in some fixer. That will tell you if it is working or if it is weak or if it is useless yellow liquid.

I do the leader test too, especially with the gunk I'm currently using to develop.
I'm currently sucking the bottom of my bottle of hc110. The stuff is so thick that I have a hard time sucking it in the syringe to measure it. Yet to my surprise it still works!

I just check to see if it will blacken the film before using it.

Drink it.   It might taste like a lemon as well.

That was a joke, obviously.  It is a slow afternoon.
