Weekend 22nd-24th Jan 2016
« on: January 22, 2016, 07:28:06 AM »
It's been so long since we've seen the sun here I thought a little reminder might be helpful. Shot in September on Portra 160 in a Mamiya RZ67 and home processed in the Fuji Hunt C41 chemicals.

After many years I am still internally debating which film format to use. I love medium format film but the camera are too bulky to my shooting style, which is always carrying the camera around with me  :(  my partner Elena, hates 35mm results  :-X I thought I had found in the Rolleiflex a perfect companion, but last birthday party showed that the Rollei in my hands was not exactly a dynamic camera, to say the least  :'(  until now my motto was, better a bad shot than no shot at all... but sometimes I think otherwise.

The last few months my combo has been the Contax G1 with the 28mm, and time to time the 45mm lens. The contax G1 itself sparks another internal debate  ???

My go-to cameras number is stabilized at 2: Contax G1 and Fuji GA645Zi.

repost from the picked up thread:

Picked up another bronica SQ-A after selling my previous setup. This new one includes the elusive WLF that seem to be overpriced everywhere. Couple shots from the test roll. Really loving the results I get from that Nikon Coolscan too. It really knows what to do for color.

Yes, the colors in that barbershop pic are beautiful. What film was that? Or do you attribute it to the scanner?

Hi,

Kevin: The colors of Portra 160 are great, specially the magenta of the second photo! I really like using the Portra 160 for landscapes and nature!
... uffff, the barber shop colors and definition are jaw-dropping!!! Amazing.

I went to a castle with a couple of friends last weekend.
I shot  color and black and white with my Pentax 6x7 MLU.

I'm not too satisfied with the Ektar this time. I developed it at home with the Tetenal kit.

It was expired Ektar that came with the camera. 2014 though and supposedly kept in the fridge so Im sure the colors are fairly accurate.

The Nikon does effect the colors differently than a flatbed though, at least in my experience. The colors come out flatter but more correct than the automatic adjustments that most software does with a flatbed.

One taken fairly recently whilst waiting for a train and the other is a rather weird statue outside Spitalfields Market in London. Leica M6, 50mm f2 Summicron, Tri-X (sepia tint via Lightroom CC).

Antonio, I can't see anything wrong with the Ektar pictures. Beautiful weekend show again.

This one is from the lost and found museum roll. I had about 3 seconds to take the picture while waiting for my friends. I like it for the graphic effect.

I would like to share some pretty old stuff ...

Found some 120 roll film strips while cleaning up my parents-in-law's house.
Most of those photographs were taken in the 1950's by my father-in-law, Josef. Josef asked me to scan a few negatives, so I did.
Those shots were -probably- taken with his Voigtländer Perkeo I with Vaskar lens.

I never would've guessed Ektar, but the first picture certainly looks like Ektar. At any rate, definitely a great shot :)

Also love ALL of Antonio's shots, and the Andreas archive shots :)

Thanks, Antonio. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the lens and film combined to handle such a wide range of tones.

I love that barber's chair and Paul's railway shot paints a great 1950s scene.

These are from a FW wander to the London Olympic park about two years ago (I think)! I'm gradually getting to grips with my scanning backlog.

Since it seems the city is on lockdown during the first snowpocalypse of 2016, here's a throwaway whimsical selfie I took at a dive bar next door to a music club I was playing at on Thursday. See if you can spot me! :D Provia 400 shot at 200 in an XA and xpro'd in Unicolor C41.

Inspired by Charles' grainy shots and by way of contrast to my previous practically grainless Acros shot, here is one I dev'd in the same tank as the Acros. This is expired Tmax 400 shot at 400. So really a two stop push (expired in 97).

Great weekend from everyone!  I really like SLVR's color shots and Late Developer's train station.  I wanted to see if I could shoot Fujifilm FP-3000B in my Polaroid Big Shot.  The Big Shot is only rated for 75-100 ISO so I put a red filter in front of the flash cube and turned the exposure knob all the way to dark.  There can't be much extra light or it will over expose so I took some shots in the dark.
