I love autochromes, even though the subject matter isn't really my thing in this set. Click on the link and some of the others have an almost 3D-like quality I've seen before on autochromes, especially at the Kahn museum in Paris (WELL worth seeing).

Yes! I've seen those! In fact, those images introduced me to the entire concept of autochromes, which is fascinating

Autochromes are fascinating. The first time I heard about them was a report about Albert Kahn, a french banker, who sent photographers around the whole world to collect what he called "Archives of the Planet". He got 72.000 mostly autochromes and 183.000 m moving pictures. His idea was to accomplish understanding for foreign people and cultures to create a peaceful world. Still the biggest challenge for mankind.

Autochrome surpassed tri-color gum as my favorite historic color process about a year ago when I really started looking at them and researched the process a bit. It is truly amazing how it simulates an RGB color space and fools the eye into thinking it is viewing full color. Thanks for the link.
