From my first rolls of Double X, i shot it at iso400 by mistake not sure if it is underexposed or underdeveloped, developed wrong or the 300 feet ive got was badly kept, but i do actually like how it turned out

It seems unlikely (to me anyway) that an additional hour of standing would make a dramatic difference. By the time the first hour is done, the developer at the emulsion should be depleted. Maybe a good swirl or two during the first hour would help. For 35mm, I always do inversions around 30 min to avoid bromide drag, but it also restarts the development, so I get a more full range of tones.

Having said all that, I do like the look of those shots. But then I am a grainophile.

I really love all the black and white portrait format shots this week. In Kai's photos I had to look twice to see what I'm looking at. They are really surreal. The tonality in O2 pilots and Fluminian's shotsis fantastic - as always.

Ah Matt, you just set my heart a-flutter! Not just because your pictures are gorgeous (which they are) but also because of the subject matter. My mother is from Braga and I lived there for 2 years. I know the Se and Bom Jesus very well. I used to walk from my apartment and up those stairs almost every Sunday. If I remember correctly, there were about 575 stairs

I still miss Braga.

I'm preparing for world toy camera day, took my old disposable cam, enlarged the aperture to get even more dreamy pics and that is the first result. Shot on Rollei Retro 400s, developed in Emofin.

33??? That's gotta be some sort of record Comes out to well under a buck a roll huh? Reminds me of the old (and stupid) joke, what's the difference between beer nuts and deer nuts? Beer nuts generally cost $1.99 a bag, but deer nuts are always under a buck.

With the tip of a box knife, a very rude job. The front lens could be removed by turning the bracket ccw.

I didn't count the steps but 575 seems right.  We were lucky to have a cool, cloudy day for our visit. (I was there a few years ago on a sunny, 35 degree day.)  Braga is a wonderful city.  A return for me is a must.

Actually, I went back and looked and this is Vericolor III. That was originally iso 160 in daylight. My roll expired in 5/89, so I shoot it at iso 25. I also have some Vericolor II type L that expired in 5/87 that I also shoot at 25 although it was originally rated at 64 for daylight. Generally, these shots are coming out fine when developed in regular C-41 chemistry.

That shot at the beach was at "whatever a Brownie 2a thinks film is". Probably around iso 100. Looking forward to seeing your Vericolor shots.

Got to touching the chrome. Had to set my scanner holder height. Ended up maxing out the height and shimming with some maskin tape and voila, perfectly sharp scans. I'm quite happy so here's a wide selection of images from this summer.

Honest Eds is a Toronto thing. It's a HUGE kind of surplus type store. Very runned down and shabby. It was opened by Ed Mirvish. The theatre guy. The whole building is HUGE and has a very big sign out front that makes it pretty legendary amongst toronto sights.

They are officially closing it I think in november after how ever many amount of years in business. Tearing it all down to build condos. Just another toronto landmark torn down so people could develop the land. Last year we lost the last real nightclub in the city. A huge complex with many large rooms with multiple DJs. Kind of a crazy sight to be there especially backstage. Just like something from the movies.

I'll get a shot of honest eds for next weekend's thread.

This is something I find to be a bit sad as a town planner...
There are some places like that that manage to become a landmark in the city but doesn't get the respect it deserves.
When cities are full of often empty condos, the streets become ubiquitous and so does the city.
This reminds me a bit of when they decided to demolish the "highly dangerous and unstable" Miron Cement smokestacks in Montreal. They were a big part of the landscape and some people managed to convince the city that they were dangerous. On one of the stacks, it took the blasters three tries to bring it down! Talk about dangerous... but now, they've been replaced by low rise apartments and a part of the city disappeared only to never really be replaced. Even if it's been close to thirty years since this took place, the place is still a bit dull. Aging buildings that look ordinary. Sure they house people and bring taxes to the city, but sometimes you have to strike a balance between lifestyle and revenues, especially in situations like that.
