An interesting look behind the scenes. Going off to listen to Diver Down right now....

Do you know what camera that is?  Sort of looks like a modern Fuji folder, but...

So that's another thing I can thank photography for.

Give me Led Zeppelin...or the Stranglers any day. ;)

Heretic! Burn him!

Seriously, after I read that, I briefly had an overwhelming urge to punch Helmut Newton in the mouth.

I can only imagine that the combined egos of Newton and Roth have the power to piss off just about anyone, let alone some coked up 20-something "musicians".

Your opinions on music are dead to me (I'm talking about your opinions on certain other bands exposed in another thread altogether. I have no opinion on VH, although based on this post I'm thinking I should call myself a Hagar man :P ).

Thanks!

Yup that is what it is. I have the wide version of it (sitting at hungry mike's house -- i hope haha) and it is a ton of fun in a featherweight package. The series is kind of plasticy and only aperture priority (at least the ones I have used) but they are an awesome camping camera. I gotta shoot more with that baby again as I really love it.

I don't post a lot of family pics on flickr or my kids will shoot me (so I will cheat and stick one here). I would say 1/2 the images I have that I will take with me are from this camera

Nice...

I really suggest you rethink associating yourself with Van Hagar while I'm in an irritable mood. Nothing against Sammy personally (I don't mind him solo), but that abomination was just about the wrongest thing of the decade.

As for my other musical tastes, suffice it to say they are eclectic enough that I'm bound to piss off pretty much anyone I have a music conversation with in about two minutes. This afternoon alone I listened to and enjoyed Rancid, Agent Orange, Megadeth, The Hives, Jeff Beck, The Yardbirds, Chuck Berry, and Glenn Miller in the space of a few hours. Right now I'm listening to the Save Ferris cover of "Come on, Eileen." Everybody find something to hate? Good.

They certainly went downhill after Black & White.  But Rattus Norvegicus and No More Heroes are superb albums.

The early Van Halen stuff was pretty good, IMO.  Saw them at the Rainbow on their World Vacation tour late 70's / early 80's.  Then came "Big Hair" and even bigger egos......

Poor old Helmut Newton seems to have been some sort of a catalyst but really just caught up in the proceedings by a quirk of fate.

Stranglers? Seemed to jump on the punk bandwagon but could play their instruments way too well and write songs / sing in tune to be real punks (again, IMO). Liked the early stuff and always coveted JJ Burnel's growly Ampeg amp.

They were on Breakfast TV this week (or was it the one show, can't remember) and they were really quite annoyed when the presenter used the term Punk. They were pretty adamant that they just happened at the same time and were nothing to do with it. Although it did them no harm being associated.

Ah yes, the good old 'Filmwasters Music Debate' (Part 4316).

Here's the thing; when it comes to music, I'm right and you're all wrong.

Even if you agree with me, because by then I'll have moved onto something even better.

 :-* 8) ;)

But seriously, one of my favourite music anecdotes is from a friend in an industrial noise band who recorded a cover version of John Cage's 4′33″....now I suspect many people have done this, but he was the first I'd heard of and it made me smile a lot.

Somebody should cover 'As Slow As Possible', the Halberstadt organ version.

Bloody hell, Ed, that must be about the weirdest mash-up imaginable  :o

At first I thought "Bloodstains" segueing into "In the Mood", how the hell would that be? Then I really gave it some thought and came to the conclusion, not bad at all.

Fancois, I'm glad to see you're bringing a touch of class to this thread.
