Is that purple line a scanner artifact? I get that from time to time on my V500. At any rate, a very cool macro :)

From me, here's a shocker. Color negative film, shot at box speed, and processed C41. No tricks in exposure or processing. AND, I actually love the shot. What is becoming of me?  :-[

Just a tip to make sure it never happens. It is caused by dust in the scanner calibration area; that is the little gap at the hinge end of the holder.
Clean that area of the glass with a microfibre cloth and some isopropyl alcohol you'll never see a purple line again...

BTW it is a nice Macro despite the line... :)

That is most likely dust or a smear (from cleaning agent etc) left in the calibration zone of the scanner. I too have a V500, and get it most often after wet cleaning the bed. Have reverted to micro fibre dry rub downs instead. The calibration zone is closest to the hinge.

Very nice, all of you.

My humble contribution is yet again from the Lomo'Instant. It is quite fun to use, even if the quality of the results is questionable. A diptych this time, two exposures of the same subject, same PoV, but one stop apart. See quite easily that colour cast creeps in at around the 1-2 sec mark.

Nice start. Ezzie's diptych and Dave's tree deserve particular mention.

Thank you. I posted the possible cause but not the solution. I just use a dry microfiber cloth on the calibration zone, it seems to go away for a little while then randomly reappears. I have a very dusty apartment  :-\

Thanks, and thanks for the tip. I thought it was a film artifact or something from the development. I always wipe down the scanning area before I start, but obviously I am neglecting the calibration area. Maybe I'll go back and rescan.

Still working through my Arizona shots. I still have three rolls of 120 from the Lubitel to develop - yikes! Got a new job (in addition to, not instead of, my previous job) and it's been taking up a bit of time.

Meanwhile, here's one from the K1000 on HP5, souped in Caffenol C-H (rs):

Another great weekend thread!
Especially like inksmelladicts portraits, Terry's flowers and O2Pilots window detail. Sometimes I wish I could do portraits, but people always turn away or put their hands in front of the face when I try.

I took my new Pre-Anniversary Speed Graphic for the first test ride last week. I had contacted 4 different classic camera repair shops asking for a focal plane shutter CLA, but all declined. One told me "this type of camera is dead". So I finally gave it some lube myself. Focal plane shutter works quite well now. I don't think the times are very precise, but good enough for me.

I love the B&W shots especially the tones of Mr Binns shot and Manuels window which is superb.

The standard of photography is very high on this site, I think because A/ We use the premiere image capture system and B/ It's less about false stuff like resolution and more about style and content.

Have a good weekend folks!

Is that purple line a scanner artifact? I get that from time to time on my V500.

Thanks, and thanks for the tip. I thought it was a film artifact or something from the development. I always wipe down the scanning area before I start, but obviously I am neglecting the calibration area. Maybe I'll go back and rescan.

I've got the same artifact sometimes from my Epson GT-9400 so will have a look at the same fix. Thanks a mill! I've doing my usual trains in the countryside with Type-665:

Oh and that purple line shit also comes from dust on the mirror under the glass. A pain in the ass to fix because once you take it apart to clean, dust is on everything...every single scanner I've had does this at some point. My V700 would do a yellow line on everything.

Terry, Reinhold, thanks very much.  Once a year I have my kids sit for an actual portrait in the dining room (as opposed to the hundreds of candid snaps I do throughout the year).  This was that day for 2015, and  when my neighbors heard about it they sent their kids too.  It was quite fun and the kids had no rules to follow so most of the pictures are casual and silly.  It's a good tradition.
