It's just turned Friday - Weekend 7-9 November
« on: November 07, 2014, 12:06:16 AM »
Here's my first image as a participant in the Filmwasters "One month one camera" thingy, taken with an RZ67, 50mm lens, and Ektar.

I actually took three images because it was dark inside the boathouse and I thought an exposure blend might be needed, but Ektar managed it with one image and a bit of help from Lightroom.

Put some film in the Polaroid Big Shot for the first time.  When I took the first shot of Vera it came out blank so I shot her again.  To my surprise both shots were on the second one.  I'm not sure how that happens, wouldn't the film for the first shot be in front of the second one?  Maybe something happened when I pulled out the dark card after loading the film.  I used some old Westinghouse Magicubes for the flash.

My first post in the forums after having lurked for a bit. Kevin, the tones in your boathouse image are fabulous!

I got back my first roll made through my "new" Leica M3 with a ZM 50 Planar. This was one of my favs with some seriously outdated Kodak Max 400.

Absolutely fabulous Kevin. I would print and hang that any day.

Welcome Collin, impressive shot, very delicate tones - like it

This thread is great so far. Kevin, your boat has lovely subtle colours. My contribution is a rare bit of street photography out and about in Oxford over the summer.

Good stuff thus far - Kevin's boat is really nicely done.

Mine's from my Canon P with Voigtländer 21/4 attached on Gold 200:

and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

I like that one, Andrej--nice tonal range to that Gold stuff.
Mine is a finish-the-roll shot that turned out better than expected.  I don't really like postcard shots...

Aww, I'm kind of smitten with that double Vera Polaroid!

Mine this weekend comes from last weekend's walk along the High Line in Manhattan. It was a grey day but lots of color anyway, so I put my first roll of Agfa Vista 400 through the K1000. I think I really like this film.

Nice shots Jeff!  I accidentally drove my wife through North Philly once about 10 years ago and still haven't heard the end of it.

Well, you're not going to find any using plus-x!! :D

I can't remember if it's north Philly or south Philly or west Philly (born and raised) or what, but I found some great urban decay there when I played a gig at the Union Transfer earlier this year.

Impressive photos, all (as ever).  Faves so far are Kevin Allan's boathouse and O2 Pilot's minimalist room shot - which might look even better in mono?

I've had my scans back from the 14 rolls of 120 Delta 400 I shot via my Rollei 2.8e on Malta. Here's a couple of abstracts. More will follow during the weekend (on the Malta "Photo Essay")

Really liking that lovely moody interior from O2Pilot. Absolute cracker...

A couple here from a recent wander around Canterbury.
First up, the trunk of a gnarly old yew in St Stephens churchyard. Followed by "under the bridge" where the River Stour enters the Westgate Gardens.

Both Olympus XA, HP5+, D76.

Thanks all for the kind words - I was pretty pleased with how it came out. That Voigtländer 21 continues to find new ways to amuse me. FWIW, I did try a quick conversion to mono before posting, but it lost something in my eyes. The weird palette (the colors, if anything, are subdued compared to the actual scene - the table really was chartreuse) gives it a slightly unsettling feel, which I like.

@02Pilot: love your image (i hope you don't mind: if you crop the image (no lamps), the table will start to shine... )

Thanks, and of course I don't mind. I looked at cropping, both to eliminate the overhead lights and to pull in the left edge a bit for better balance. In the end, I decided that I wanted to preserve both because they contributed to the off-balance feeling and ambiguity of the scene. Certainly if one wanted to highlight the table and windows, a crop would make a lot of sense.

And I love the (wet?) cobblestones.

So much good stuff this week.... I particularly like Kevin's boathouse shot: really love the gentle transition from shadow to light. TK's stairwell shot, really cool sense of movement. Great composition and contrast in Fluminian's watery newspaper advert section shot. The faces in Aksel's first image from Oslo.

02Pilot is killing me, I have this love/hat relationship with Kodak Gold. Everything I've ever done with it I hate. I dislike the way it looks in most other people's shots as well and then someone comes along who makes it look absolutely fantastic and I love it. Great photograph.

Lenore's shot is making me homesick. Looks like about 25th street looking east and slightly south. Gary's bottom shot of the bride and groom walking past the traps (lobster? crab?). Jeff's North Philly images and Volker's shot as well.

Makes me wish I had done something this week, I do have a roll to develop, and I'll be forcing myself to go through my gear to take to a swap/sale next weekend, but I want to be out shooting! Great work all.

The first one is of my dad in his studio, the second is my friend & I's favorite bar to play pool at.
Both taken with ilfords 3200 film (obviously). which i just bought 3 rolls just for bar hopping! I used a roll on Halloween, waiting to develop. These weren't taken this week, but i did just work on them a little! All taken with the yashica 124g

The last is of this awesome girl i know, taken with tmax 400.

Some great shots on this weeks! @Volker, really enjoy that photo!

A couple shots from the Kodak Instamatic 500 on Konica CN 160. Either the film is a bit off (expired 2009) or my Unicolor chems are dying as there is a bit of a purple cast to these. Not offensive, but enough to notice.

Great shots people! I got a few (11) roll back from UK Film Lab. Quite an expensive endeavour, but the quality is really great.

This shot is from earlier this year. Minolta Riva Panorama, Kodak BW 400CN. I'm still surprised how much I love that camera. So much so, that I'm looking for a backup.

Lovely shot, Urban.

UKFL is the company I used for processing and scanning my 14 rolls of 120 Delta 400.  They did a great job for me as well.  Like you say. not cheap - but quality pays, it doesn't cost.

UK film lab is about 1.5 miles from my house they seem pricey but get very good reviews and the scans are said to be very good
