I made a classic mistake today
« on: October 05, 2014, 08:30:26 PM »
I loaded some Agfa Vista in my M4-2 and also took my Sony A7 and went to Osberton horse trials, i was shooting some great shots ( i used to shoot for a few of the horse magazines at most of the big 3 day events) only problem i didn't load it properly and didn't check it was winding on and guess what it wasn't so i came home with some great digital shots :'( i can't believe it happened first time ever

That happened to me once before, I only noticed because I was able to "advance" much further than 36 exposures! Now I'm so paranoid that just today I wasted 2 or 3 exposures because I reopened both my Canonet and XA to double check that they were in fact caught and advancing  :-\

Shooting with my M4 I (now) always fold the tip of the film when inserting it to the take up, after having the same experience of complete failure as you. Mind you, no digi back-up and it makes me remember  my experienced better, outdoor 70mm cinema.

I do the same trick of folding the leader it's never failed before

Hmmm, now I have to rethink how I hold the camera  ;)

I'm a professional trumpet player. The #1 most important part of a trumpet is the mouthpiece (without it, I can't make a sound). When I go to a gig, I put my mouthpiece into my trumpet case. Then before I leave the apartment I check to make sure I put it in there. Then after I step outside of my apartment and lock the door I check to make sure my mouthpiece is in there. Then while I walk down the 5 flights of stairs from my apartment I check to make sure it's there. Then on the way to the subway I make sure it's there. Then right as the train comes I check to make sure it's there.

I'm not kidding about this.

Yes, scads! Here's me playing with my favorite band in the world, Mad Juana: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBFF737402358C31E

Those are live concert footage, so the sound quality isn't always that great. Here's an actual music video I made with my co-writer in Sao Paulo Brazil. Also like me a musician and amateur photographer, though I failed at converting him from d*****l to film :( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKscV9SeOc0&list=PLbeHok4AqpxAyJy4THG6fkfhCImfdc3Aj&index=1

That is mad never heard music like that before, it's like punk meets funk, you can't beat live music this is one of my favourite unsigned bands but very big around Europe

I almost covered Back in Black with my brass band. I say "almost" because we were rehearsing it to play in the last Boston St Patrick's Day parade, but our sponsor pulled out at the last minute to protest the organisers' anti-gay policy.

Here's that brass band (normally we play all Nirvana covers): https://www.youtube.com/user/NevermindOrchestra
