Kodak Pro Image 100
« on: July 12, 2014, 06:15:39 PM »
Just seen some nice photos posted on Flickr and the film stock is called Kodak Pro Image 100.  Apparently, it's a 100 ISO colour print film but I'm struggling to find details of where I might get a few rolls.  Is it current production?  Anyone else use(d) it?

I'd be interested to see any examples / get feedback / find out more.

Regards,  Paul.

Looking at the datasheets from Kodak it would seem it has been superseded by Profoto XL 100. Same characteristics, same recommended usage, and to be honest suspicously similar naming for it to be pure coincidence.

From memory, Image film was an E-6 film in the Ektachrome family.
They had Ektachrome Lumiere which became Kodak Image...

Kodak Pro is just to say that it was in their pro line of films like Portra once was.

I've shot some Profoto 100 in 120. love the stuff!

I think I read somewhere that it's not quite portra but their kodak gold line or similar but made to better specs a bit. for example better withstanding of drop of quality because of heat. and that it's marketed to areas where pros can't afford the portra line.

here's the roll I shot:

Now read the Profoto data sheet, you could be forgiven for mistaking them for the same film. http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/support/techPubs/e2e/e2e.pdf

Now, I just wish I could get paid to use their photocopy machine  ::)

I'm actually starting to wonder products were sold as a "new" film while being just the same old stuff?

All interesting stuff.....but is it manufactured currently and is it available in the UK?

I'm not creating a crusade to find it.  If it's not available currently or the only place you can get it is Papua New Guinea on the third Thursday of each December, then I'll stick with Portra.

I think both are out of production. Not seen Pro Image anywhere, but ProFoto XL has until very lately been in stock at FPP, perhaps they will get hold of some more - it has proven to be popular it would seem.

Weened from the Kodak Alaris home page, colour negative films still manufactured are:

Consumer:
Gold 200
Ultramax 400

Pro:
Ektar 100
Portra 160, 400 and 800

I bought 20 rolls on Ebay a few years back off a seller based in Thailand.

The price was dirt cheap (can't remember how much exactly but around £1 a  roll) and I loved the saturated colours.  I'll post a few examples later.

Not sure where you can buy it now -  I switched to Tudor for colour 35mm film as it has the same high colour saturation and low price on eBay.

Just pulling this thread up from the depths as there was a news item in Amateur Photographer saying a 'new' film is now on sale called 'Kodak Professional Pro Image 100'. Digging around in the dark corners of interspace I found...

"Kodak Alaris: KODAK PROFESSIONAL PRO IMAGE 100 Arrives in Europe

KODAK PROFESSIONAL PRO IMAGE 100 is a 35mm colour negative film designed for professional photographic applications. It delivers excellent sharpness for prints and enlargements and offers strong vibrant colours combined with natural flesh tones. The film is great for professional photographers and all who are constantly looking to extend their film portfolio. It is a perfect film choice for portraits, weddings and social occasions.

“Kodak Professional Pro Image 100 gained such positive feedback during its trial period in the UK that the decision whether it should be made available in further countries became easy for us. We are really pleased to offer this popular film to the whole European market.”, said Andrew Church, P&OS and Film Capture Product Manager EAMER of Kodak Alaris.

The Kodak Professional Pro Image 100 is sold in packs of 5 rolls and is available from June 2018 through all dealers in Europe stocking Kodak films.

https://www.photographyblog.com/news/kodak_professional_pro_image_100_film"

But if you follow the link there's nothing there about the film.

Seems some UK stockists have it in stock.
