I got this email, like I often do, from a photo competition/festival/whatever that was more interesting than most. It’s out of Tokyo and Daido Moriyama is one of the judges, so that got my attention. Then I saw the theme is IDENTITIES. Well, that’s one way of looking at what I’ve been trying to get across with the DR prostitute work, their professional performance life contrasted with their regular daily life. But when I saw it framed as identities, I immediately had the idea of creating diptychs as a way of being a bit more obvious with the contrasts.
This past weekend was the first in a long time that I didn't have to work, and idle hands... While I was trying out different diptych combinations and editing, this White Stripes song came up on my computer's shuffle and I thought, Hmmm...
