Ha, I would too  :)   But this is coming from someone who has a Toy Camera.com stretch-T and another T that has a 35mm SLR on the front and reads "I am Famous in Europe"  :D

Holy crap, awesome.

Where do we get these fabulous shirts?

I would totally also pimp filmwasters.  I do work at an apparel screenprint shop...

Nice idea, guys. As long as no-one makes any money from the venture then I'm interested. Will run it past the other 4 and see what they say. Obviously, we don't want to lose money hand over fist, but Filmwasters is a deliberately independent and not-for-profit site so selling shirts to generate revenue is not what we're about. If we could get, say, 20 or so made up and then people pay cost price to buy them, that might work...of course it would mean one of us 5 lazy gits getting off our behinds to do it, so on second thoughts, don't hold your breath
 :)

Well I know for a fact that my print shop does small runs (the minimum is 12).

If any interest does come of it, Rebecca is the gal to talk to:
http://bigcranium.com

There's an apparel catalogue online, and as well as the stuff listed, we can do american apparel shirts.

Just putting it out there ;).

funny this has been mentioned, i have been toying with the idea for a while now, but orignally didnt think there would be any interest beyond the five of us!

will float a couple of designs past the f/w and see where we are, might make sense to get them made in the USA as would imagine that, given the excahnge rates, even the DIY lot i use, would make them expensive over that way.

My only other proviso is that any shirts we use would need to be as 'right on' as possible (i.e. no slave labour, preferably organic cotton etc. etc. - I know..... just shoot me now  :)

I know ed's already made the points, but I must do so too ... if this is done, we really need to make sure there is absolutely NO profit involved in any way for anyone linked with filmwasters, and that we arent buying some sweatshop produced tee-shirt

preferably organic cotton

Yeah, but even organic cotton needs about 20 litres of water per inch of thread. Or something. Far better to go for polyester...

Oh.  ???

I like the idea of organic slaves...there is a BDSM site I visit that advocates the same...bugger disregard the last. I was there for a friend......I'm in favour of it but have to leave.

Actually, organic cotton is not that bad. I read about the stuff in a very interesting and lengthy book called "WorldChanging, a user's guide for the 21st century"...

The problem with Polyester is that it takes around 400 years to disintegrate while encouraging the pollution cycle since it is made from petroleum based products. But there are a host of alternatives.

Standard cotton is one of the most polluting industries in the world. Producing 1 t-shirt uses 1/3 of a pound of pesticides and fertilizers... not good for the environment.
Organic cotton, while being a resource intensive production, is a lot better.

There are also new fibers. In India, they have been using Modal and Lyocell fibers as replacements for Polyester and Rayon. These fibers are extracted from beech wood and are just as per formant as the synthetics.

There is also Bamboo fiber that is used in blends.

And, for the granola fans among us ;) there is the ultimate fiber: hemp. It doesn't mean rough burlap anymore! It can be woven as finely as silk. It is also the toughest fiber in the natural world! It is also mildew resistant (and no, it won't give you a buzz ;) )

Anyways... I just thought some of you might be interested in knowing a bit about this stuff. (and yes, after reading over 300 pages of this book, I too want to change the world!)

no hemp please. nothing against the fabric ( damn hippies), but i've never tried on a hemp t-shirt that wasn't ill fitting. like skinny in the neck, wide in the sleeves and wide in the belly area every time. it doesn't shrink or something. plus i can't get a decent buzz from it (jk, i'm high on life). i like a good old cotton medium shirt. on ethat doesn't hang down past my crotch and is as skinny as a stovepipe and tight in the pits.
can you tell i'm bitter about my shirt fittings?

There's also bamboo - has that already been mentioned?

Extremely soft and comfortable as well.  I'm a huge fan of bamboo.
