Today's craziness....
« on: February 25, 2014, 03:40:42 PM »
I just bought 20 disposable b/w Fuji cameras on 7dayshop for 89p each plus postage. I have no idea why, but the price was right.

Well, it's easy enough to get the film out of these so it can be used elsewhere. Also, you can always give one to the kids to see what masterpiece they'll come up with :) (and yes, you can be part of the "kids" ;) )

when the price is right, there is no debate. 36 exposures for 89 p is nothing to be sniffed at. I wonder if you can extract the film to use in other 35mm cameras?

Set them up on tripods with 10 self timers for some Matrix style bullet film shots

Seems a proper bargain, a friend put an Ilford one on each table at her wedding reception, despite them not all coming back it provided a different viewpoint for the evening

Yes you can!
On these, the film is pre-wound in a small chamber. You put some electrical tape on the lens and shoot the entire film. If you have a film retriever, you can bring it entirely inside the cassette. Then, you just open the camera with a flat head screwdriver and an exacto knife. There is no film leader on these so you have to cut one with scissors. Also no DX code, so you have to use a camera with manual ISO settings. Some of them have a strange spool top and I've once seen a mini cassette!

François: how much per film if I send them over to you for re-spooling?

 ;) :)

Nah, you can do this yourself easy!
If you don't have a film retriever, you can always go to the 1hour lab and ask them to just fish the film out. They'll probably do it for free or just a tip.

What I love more than anything is the implication in your last post, Jonas that "the nineties" is somehow a distant era. You young scamp!!

I'll admit that today I didn't do much better than Ed!
I probably channeled my inner Becky while at Target...

Is it normal for a grown man to buy SIX Hello Kitty lunchboxes with flowers and little hearts with the plan to convert them to pinholes?
Lucky for me, they were less than 1$ each...

When you take them out into public to take pictures with them, that's when you've crossed the "normal" line.

Just getting out of the car with the pinhole boxes is going to be slightly... how could I put this... embarrassing!
I can't imagine myself with such a headband!

But for now, all I discovered is that those boxes leak light like a sieve!
