You're really on a roll there!

Peter, there's a kind of sadness (wistfulness?) that seems to me to pervade these photos.  I like the way you've avoided the mainstream take(s) on the subject and personalized it this way.  You've achieved an unusual level of complexity just with the use of your eye.  Very difficult but way more effective than a lot of sanctimonious verbiage.  Congratulations again.

Thank you.  Yes, there is that.  I certainly don't mean to paint this rosy picture, which would be as inaccurate as the typical caricatures.  The last pic -- she is in St. Maarten, so homesick, missing her daughter so much.

Peter, congratulations.

Great intyerview and really useful for me as background information to the series, which, for the record, I love.

Kinda OT, but for me this resonated in regard to this project.  I'm no theologian and not even very literate in Christianity but FWIW this is the best explanation for the Jesus / God thing I've come across.  The point of the quote is how to change irrational prejudice, and I'm seeing it hopefully as something my photos can contribute toward for "whores," so I like it for a lot of reasons, but yeah, that whole Jesus / God thing...

Their online magazine is out and it has a pic and link back to my stuff

http://www.joomag.com/magazine/the-magazine-issue-x-the-forgotten-photographer/0253720001392645492

The magazine looks quite interesting and I don't think I'm just saying that. And in a cool bit of irony (or maybe not), they seem pretty keen on highlighting photography books and traditional publishing.
