By Night We Dream of Trees
« on: February 06, 2014, 09:53:34 AM »
Images taken at night of my local wood. Cold, often wet, and more than a bit scarey at times, long exposures, and focusing with the aid of a 500,000lumen torch. I hope the images convey some of the mystery, loneliness and overactive imagination that comes from abstraction and removal of detail.
Most of the images were made on full moons over Autumn/Winter  2013/2014
all made on FP4, 5x4 sheets

right up my alley! Or part of the woods ;)
all of them speak to me, specially the shots with the moon in them. But my favorite is def the second one! Strong sensation of being watched through that one.

I'm half way through printing these out in Platinum, exhibition starts next weekend, it will test the public slightly I feel, they are what we in the UK call 'Marmite' (google it).

I'm printing them 10x8, but putting them in some 11x14 matted frames I have, I know its a bit naff but I like the rough edges and splats showing on these images - adds to the raw-ness.

Truly stunning set of photos, Dave.  The second one down is my favourite - but that's being picky.

I've got three prints of old boats on a wall at a small gallery in Suffolk.  Never exhibited before, so I've just left a visitor book and asked for comments.

Beautiful, Dave! I too like the second one down ... looks like a still from a movie. The prints look great too, I hope they get the reaction and attention they deserve!

Very impressive shots Dave!
Good luck for the press day. Just hand out some canapés and they won't care about the hair cut  ;)
