I now have a new plan for 2014. After rummaging around my shed last night trying to find a small box of curtain hooks (the glamour!) I discovered 3 partially used boxes of 5x4 Pola sheet film containing a few sheets each of Types 55, 54, 57 and 51. I kind of knew the stash was there, but had forgotten about it for the most part. It's not been kept particularly well, so I guess I'd better get on and use the damn stuff before it has to suffer yet another year of seriously fluctuating temperatures in my shed.

I'll use the field camera mostly, but I suspect I won't need much prompting to waste a few sheets in the Graph Check sequence camera too.

Odd coincidence. I went searching through the small film fridge in my garage yesterday and happened upon three boxes of Polaroid Sepia and two boxes of Polaroid Chocolate wedged in the back behind a load of 35mm and 120. Going to have some fun with it at some point this year.

Funny, I did something similar last week!
I have an old 1980's spice rack in which I store 35mm and 120. I decided to move it to the lab and hang it on the wall instead of leaving it on top of a desk. When I dumped it on the counter to find the screw holes, I found some rolls of Plus-X, Neopan, Konica color film and a host of other goodies

3. Build my dream 20x12
4. Try to get published with current project.

2013 has been my most productive and most enjoyable year of photography. It was a year of reflection and finding my vision and confidence. May be another thread......

I'd love to shoot some 8x10, but it looks about 4x as hard as 4x5 - and I've got 4x5 down to a MF type work flow

8x10 is quite fantastic thing - I bought mine this year and have been enjoying it so far - the "shooting", not the lugging. But it really needs plenty of time to be enjoyed properly.

I agree Andrej K, when time is short and speed is of the essence there is no more frustrating a camera to use. Most of my photography has been out walking this year it really is painful carrying around 25 kgs for much of a distance and I haven't used it.

Next year, however, I will be more patient with it. I now have a project to work on that I can plan and utilise the 8x10 to its full benefit. Quality not the quantity.

Until I get the 20x12 built!

2014. Just over 10 years since I decided to replace my crappy Vivitar point and shoot film camera with an SLR. I'm excited to see what this year brings. With the addition of my daughter Everly last year, things slowed down quite a bit, but I was still able to get out on a couple of shoots. I really want to bring along my oldest daughter along more this next year and teach her how to shoot. She loves exploring too which is fun.

So far, I have a big show scheduled for the beginning of Feb. A combined show featuring shots from a trip I was able to attend aboard the SS United States along with stories of people who sailed on the ship in it's glorious days at sea. I've been working on that since Sept of this past year, and look forward to getting it all out of my basement and seeing it hang in the gallery. I'm still on schedule and hopefully it stays that way. I'm way too much of a procrastinator when it comes to certain things.

I also constructed a 4X5 pinhole camera this past year and I hope to finally develop pictures in my own house. Something I previously wanted to do in 2007, but had to give up on due to lack of space and funds when my work changed. Excited about that finally being able to happen.

This past year was a great year for framing, something I also do as a hobby along with photography. Moving 2 years ago has allowed me to be able to work on frames in a designated area in the basement, and continue where I left off whenever I need to. Something I could not do in our old condo, and my wife wasn't too fond of! I was able to somehow find the time to work on many frames this past year, and also work a lot on my finishing techniques. Something that has really paid off for the art show I'm working on.

So here's to a great 2014. I wish everyone the best, safe travels, and good shooting.

1. Same plan as for the last 5 years, get my darkroom built. Managed to clear out all the clutter my wife and children had bunged in the designated room in the cellar this autumn. Now it's chock-a-block again. The room needs insulating, paneling, flooring, hot and cold water, electricity, the works.

2. Stock up on peel apart, Fuji is obviously leaving the party, for how long will they keep making FP100C?

3. Curtail my GAS. I really would love a Widelux. I still haven't found a 135 SLR I am really happy with, and I want to replace my 6x6 SLR which has too many issues. Having said that I'm with Phil. If a camera is in order, and not being used, rid yourself of it. I'm not good at it, far from it. Haven't sold a camera in years. But I intend to.

4. 1 roll a week thanks to Urban

5. Shoot more in general, and much more pinhole.

Well. I'm planning on taking few snaps with what ever camera that comes to hand. Love square but love also 35mm and 5x7 but my stock of strong elastic bands to hold FKD thing together is rather depleted some the 5x7 will have to wait.

I might even sort out the darkish room too. It's so damp here right by the sea, everything rusts in there. And there's bikes to fall over.

Oh yes and I'm exploring the possibility of thinking about considering making distinctive work - that you know is mine and everything. Like shooting with paper negs in MF camera then enlarging through them. That sort of thing. Purists should step way now:-)

My intentions for 2014 include:

a/ fully participating in 52Rolls - using the wide range of cameras and formats at my disposal
b/ having another go at home C-41 developing
c/ trying cross-processing (as I have some old Sensia which I might  use in 52Rolls then develop in C-41)
d/ aiming to use the Harman Titan a bit more and just possibly explore the world of 5x4 further

Interesting discussion about developing style….
As I tell all my workshop students, style comes from within.
Initially, it's not about what camera you are using.
"style" is about identifying who you are, what you are trying to say and the overall theme that connects every image you shoot.
Once you do that, the rest follows…

Waste less film i.e. make more prints on paper and get some of them up on our walls.
Get the proper lens cone for my D3 and 135mm.
Use my Chamonix way more
Complete the Mamiya 645 system I started buying into this winter. Shouldn't be to difficult with those prices.

Yes we do, and that's why we wants it...    
Of course 4x5 enlargers are significantly smaller, but so is 4x5 groundglass.. 13x18cm is just so much nicer and more pleasant to work with...

I did too untill I saw one at Vrå highschool (special danish phenomena I think) Standing around 2m tall (or more) it wont fit my darkroom unless I either dig out or cut a hole in the roof. Neither struck me as vise things to do.
