Filmwasters Magazine - Call For Entries
« on: November 04, 2013, 08:54:00 AM »
Dear Filmwasters,

The theme for the first issue of Filmwasters is “ People“ and we invite all to please contribute by sending up to 5 images of no more than 200kb each to verianthomas@gmail.com (larger images will be required later) . Please include any information that you think relevant, such as camera, film, f stop, shutter speed, or none, it’s up to you, say as much as you want, up to a couple of thousand words even!

We wanted to make the theme for this first issue as wide ranging as possible so with the theme of “People” there are a lot of possibilities, from formal portraits to street portraits/photography, photo journalism, fashion, self portraits and others.

As well as individual images we are also seeking photo essays on the same theme and articles, which could be anything that sparks your imagination, Top 5 Street Photography cameras, lighting a subject, putting people at their ease, anything at all.

Deadline for submissions is January 24th 2014, so there is plenty of time to dig out existing photos or shoot a few rolls.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask them,

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Dave,

Initially it will be part of the filmwasters site, possibly as a new tab. It will also be available as a downloadable .PDF and will be made available at a Print On Demand site with no mark up should anybody wish to have it professionally printed.  It can, at this point, be freely shared subject to copyright conditions (which is mostly that the content can not be used, altered etc. outside the magazine itself). I will probably do a phased publication so that everybody here can have their say before it gets released to the wider world. The magazine is for people here to contribute to and not open to general submissions.

Once I finish up with the semester's labors in a few weeks I'll have a chance to look through the pile and see if I can dig something out for you.
Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

I'm working on a few colour and black and white panoramics over the Christmas period.

I don't think that's such a big problem. We can proofread the text.

JOJONAS~ AND 02PILOT thanks both, 've recieved them and will be in touch.

We have had a few submissions so far, probably about 50% of what we will need, but there is still over a month to go to the deadline and I'm betting that we'll have plenty by then. :)

My wife is reading a magazine with a two page spread called Best Deals where people talk about their best finds. It could make a fun regular section. In deference to the site's homeland, call it the Boot Shop?

I think it would be fun to have exclusives.
Since the magazine should be available in digital format for free, it's going to get proper diffusion anyways.

While being on the subject of the magazine, please be patient. Verian is having a hard time these days.
His family has been hit with a flood of problems, sickness and worries... last time I exchanged some mail with him, he said he's going to try an work on it some more.

The magazine will come out. I just don't know when.
