Hope those 'wasters in the UK are doing alright!
« on: October 28, 2013, 01:23:48 PM »
Heard of the storms on the morning news. Hope that everyone there is holding out alright! Though they might not be checking this as they may not. Have hydro right now!

I haven't checked the news but I know they've been hit hard a few times in the last few weeks.

BTW, in the UK hydro = power = electricity ;)

It's all rather tame in the Midlands where I am, bit wet last night but quite ordinary right now. I believe that it gets worse the further south you go, BBC says there were winds of 99mph on the Isle of Wight (just off Portsmouth in the Chanel). Hopefully everybody is OK.

thanks Guys - it was a rough night here Power went off about 3 am and not back until about 1030. No damage as far as I can tell though.  few old trees down, but nothing like 1987.

I think the very south coast got hit a lot harder than us further inland though.

Ailsa was instagramming some cool hurricane wave action from Brighton beach yesterday.

I'm on the south coast, it was very windy, branches and leaves everywhere, only a few trees down - that's autumn over - all trees stripped of leaves.

and for some reason my car has two inches of water in the footwells, smells pretty bad  - only noticed when I got wet feet when i went around the first corner

Also very calm in Derbyshire

Hi TinTin. Thanks for asking.

South London checking in with news of not very much sleep last night, trees down in the local park and the tube stations and the overground shut this morning. The weather today has been weird too. A strange light in the sky followed by hours of sunshine and then a really heavy rain shower. It definitely feels 'not normal'.

Thanks for thinking of us. It's been a bit wet, wild and windy in East Anglia but we're okay. The worst of it is that we've had a bit of roofing felt stripped off the garden shed and there's been no trains - so no way to get 55 miles to work in London.

I suspect that the worst hit will be the folks living along the south and south west coast - as they will have borne the brunt of it.  I'll find out tomorrow as I work for an insurance company and we'll be helping home / car owners to get repairs done and keeping businesses going.....

Hang on a minute. Leon, do you have an Instaspam account, or did I read your comment wrongly?

Glad all ok. I'm in the south west and there are trees down but nothing too bad I don't think. Big waves at the normally more sheltered beach by my house. My friends brother up and riding one yesterday! Tried to take some polas but the film was duff. Cheers all

When I heard last night on the weather channel that winds were blowing up to 190km/h... it must have been scary.

Not much to report in birmingham.

Cats were going wild last night.. not sure that can be blamed on the storm though

One thing to come out of the bad bad weather, was that the surgeon couldn't get to the hospital for my hernia operation. So hopefully I can make the Burnham Beeches outing  :) assuming the rescheduling doesn't clash!

Beautiful golden  light this morning, after the storms cleared the air.

Shame, I couldn't take advantage of it, as I commuted to work.  The train wouldn't stop for me to take a picture.

glad to hear that everyone is okay. It passed by here but had slowed down a lot. Southmost of Sweden and Denmark got a few hits though. Saw news of a roof ripped off yesterday.

I missed all the fun, being in Bogotá but Mrs B tells me it got abit windy in Broxbourne. Apparently there's a big branch in the middle of the garden which I need to dispose of at the week end.

I missed the 87 and 90 storms too. God clearly doesn't want my hair to get ruffled ;)
