My first topic, Rolls Royce RB211 jet Engine
« on: October 23, 2013, 10:08:29 PM »
At the moment i'm working on the refurb of the Silk Museum Derby UK where they have an RB211 hanging from the ceiling, so i took my little Rollei 35B loaded with some HP5
All were shot wide open @ F3.5 and developed in DDX

RB211... that's small stuff.
My dad used to work on the Trent 800. Now that's a big engine!

I second Flu, great shots and tones. And the 35B seems to be a fine performer with the 3-element Triotar. Only the white spots don't match the otherwise perfect image quality imho.

I was a precision engineer and used to work for the company that made the turbine blades for Rolls Royce for these and other  jet engines in their range.

I saw on TV where they made the blades up north ? It was great how everything was brought together and fitted perfect, but there was one small peice that was not quite right and they had to wait for a loss adjuster because the metal was worth £60,000 i think

Everything on these is incredibly expensive!
My dad used to do the load and vibration tests on the running engines. He used to brag about the turbines burning so much fuel every minute that if they tried siphoning the fuel directly from the tanker trucks, the vacuum created would just crush them.

If he's coming this winter, he better pack some warm socks and a good snow jacket :)
