6ft.x6ft. Silver Gelatin photo weave
« on: July 25, 2013, 07:07:12 AM »
I'm using bulk ilford RC pearl that's 5" x 500ft that was designed for automated 4x6 processors.
I assemble the weave prior to my exposure taped to my studio wall. After the exposure is complete, I then take it off my wall and lay it flat on my studio floor and apply the chems with a sponge mop. I have 7 prints that average around 5ft.x5ft. I'm gearing up for a solo show in a few months.

Thanks.
Dave

These are excellent. Very creative. Are you going to make them square, or are they staying asymmetrical?

Thanks for all the kind words guys...I have around 7 other large scale photo weaves done in the same way...I try not to trim them up. I like the process to show through the entire image. I'll post more later on...

This is such a cool concept - please post the other images when you have time.

I was thinking about making a similar weave with Polaroids, but I never got round to it - but yours is at a different level. Love the idea of sloshing the chems with a mop!

Thanks so much for sharing this and good luck with the exhibition.

How do I wash the prints?

I usually try and do these prints while its raining. So when it comes time to wash them I can open the overhead door at my studio and drag my prints out into the rain for a few hours...but if it's a no rain day, I use a 5 gal manual pressurized spray pump (like what an exterminator would use) filled with hypo/water.

I'm on my way to my studio to make another big print right now...I'll post the others very soon.

Thanks!
Dave

LOVE the idea of washing the prints in the rain. As I'm from the UK, that gives me an idea...
