The quayside area of the River Tyne, with Newcastle on the north bank and Gateshead on the South Bank, is much photographed, but 90% of the images on the net are from a small redeveloped area around The Sage, Millenium Bridge, and Tyne Bridge - and very nice that area is too, but I wanted to show a set from an older part of the quayside, just a few hundred yards away.
These were taken in one day in February 2009 on Fuji Pro 800Z film in a Canon T70, one of my least favourite cameras although I managed to get through three of them which all expired in different ways ... too many pushbuttons for my liking, and an autowind which sounded like a weezy cough, but I still like some of the images I took with them.
Fog definitely imparts a new perspective on the scene, certainly more interesting than the bright sunshine we are suffering now. Oh, my subject title ... I do like the group Lindisfarne but hate their best-known song "Fog on the Tyne" - so please don't be tempted to mention it !
