Theme: "TV Freaks"

Calling all fans of cult TV shows! Let's celebrate our favourite TV shows with a photographic homage. Is there a TV show you've loved and lost? Do you still wish you were watching it for the first time, or is it still fresh and engaging on the 45th re-watch? Was a there a moment, or an image form the show which defined what you loved about it?

Your image can be as thematically obvious, or as obscure as you like. All you have to do is include a sentence or two about why you shot this particular photo and be sure to include the name of the show.

There is no 'time served' rule with these collaborations so don't worry if you only just registered with Filmwasters. Conversely, if you registered 6 years ago, but haven't visited the site site for the last 5, that doesn't matter either. Join in. The work we receive is always diverse and high-quality and the more people that get involved, the better the resulting gallery will be.

Basic requirements:

JPEG Requirements: One JPEG image. Not larger than 800 pixels in length or width. No more than 200kb.

PLEASE use ONLY your name in the image file (e.g. "Bob Capa.jpg")

**ALSO INCLUDE**

1. A sentence or two about why you chose this particular photo.
2. The name of the show itself.
3. The camera, process and/or type of film used.
4. Your website or blog address that you'd like listed.

Now THIS one looks like being a lot of fun! I'm already picturing a slice of cherry pie and a steaming mug of Joe being sent in by the Twin Peaks fan, or an unsettling photo of a shadowy figure smoking a cigarette from the X-Files fan. Perhaps a manhole cover sent in by the Lost fan?

If I get my act together I should be able to turn this into a bit of a quiz too, by withholding the names of the shows until the final page of the galley and then put up thumbnails of the photos and the shows they represent.

Full disclosure: this is part of my 5 step rehabilitation program (see below for the other 4) to help get over the heartbreak of the US TV show, Fringe coming to an end. It finished in January this year, but I didn't hear about it until February, so we have spent the last few months at Wenn Mansions watching all 5 seasons.

Excellent theme Ed! already have lots of ideas.

Two of my favourites were Deadwood and Carnivale... both ended abruptly when all the scriptwriters went on strike and were consequently dumped!

Dont mention the script writers strikes Paul - Heroes (dare I mention it) promised so much after the first series ... then it all went wrong and died a slow and tortuous death over the next few. Crashed and burned. I felt so let down.

Indeed. TV fandom is a risky business. The first thing I asked the person who recommended Fringe to me was, "But does it actually have an ending?". Luckily it does as they were given a final 13 episodes to wrap everything up by the network, but boy is it fascinating getting behind the scenes and finding out how real world events like budgets and the imminent threat of cancellation affect story arcs.

Forgive the silly question, but I just want to make sure I've got this straight. One picture that is inspired in some way by a beloved TV series that is no longer on the air. Is each person limited to one TV series? I suppose that's more of a hypothetical question because I only have one TV series in mind right now, but in case another one pops into my mind when I'm wide awake at 3 a.m., then I'll know if I should tell my brain to just shut up or to start thinking of a second picture

I don't know what the picture will be yet, but I know exactly what show I'm inspired by. This is going to be fun

I guess it's going to be a single picture and single show.

Now for me, just selecting a show is going to be hard. I don't watch much TV anymore but there are tons of shows I just LOVED when I was a kid. Too many to make choosing an easy thing!

The show doesn't have to be off the air, in hiatus or cancelled. Drama, comedy, sci-fi....But yes, one photo to represent one show.

Me too, horribly disappointed when Heroes came back on air. BSG however survived the strike, frakkin´ well.

Brilliant. III is my fave black adder for guffawick outbursts. Hugh Laurie is of course superb, but Robbie Coltrane as Dr Johnson against Rowan Atkinson's neologisms was also pretty spectacular:

Ed, I too loved FRINGE..only found it last year but pretty much caught up on all til the last few episodes..I thought X-FILES was my favorite sci-fi but FRINGE wins out!! Maybe I will find it on DVD!

Great news. Season 5 is out on DVD and if you can't find that I'm pretty sure you can/could watch the episodes via Fox TV's website in the States.
