It always amazes me that the only place visitors ever seem to head for is London. OK, it's our nation's capital but there are oh so many more beautiful and interesting places around this small isle and it's such a pity that, with a limited time frame, London is seen as the best way to "cram" in as many sights as possible.

It wasn't pointed at anyone in particular, Deborah. The UK is a small but extremely diverse place (geographically, geologically and culturally) and yet, despite having great connections from the likes of Manchester, Glasgow and Birminghamto major cities around the world, the world seems to head for London.
Ironically, the one thing I think London
isn't typical of is being British. It's a big, multi-cultural melting pot, it has a lot of art and entertainment on-tap but I've never regarded it as quintessentially British. Probably because I doubt there isn't any such place. Being British is more of a mind-set.
