Type 55 Negatives - Storage
« on: May 06, 2007, 03:42:50 AM »
Filmwasters,

Presently cleaning my messy darkroom  :-[

Anyone out there have a good solution for storing Polaroid Type 55 negatives??  They won't fit in the 4x5 plastic sleeve thingys I have.  It used to be no big deal because I couldn't afford the stuff and so had just a few.  Now I have a stash of expired Type 55 and have many negs and they are everywhere  :P  Please help!

Thx!

I use the same solution that I use for 5x4 negs.  5x7" polyester sleeves (http://www.secol.co.uk/SLEEVES.SHTML) cut along the top to make a hinged folder.  I use a paper cutter to chop 1mm off the top seam, creating the folder.

Static keeps it closed around the negative and you don't have to risk a scratch sliding the negative in as you now just unfold the polyester and place it in.  I then store them upright with a contact print (with any printing details on the back) in a box.

Bob.

Silverprint stock Print File storage sleeves for Type 55. They hold four sheets per page. The Print File number is 45-4HB POL.

They are not in their price list but there is an image of them on their Print File page.
