phil: good thought! as always liking the feel in your shots.

donker dave: saw that tunnel shot on the fw tumblr and fell in love with it right away~~~ both shots are really making the most of the widelux I think :)

paul, one could say that those shots are buttering me up ;) hehe, joking aside though.. they look terrific!

calbisu: my wishes to go with. I hope he recovers without problems.

here's two of mine that I dug up from the archives..

I'm liking the cinemascope stuff.  Last weekend I went stalking this cool derelict barn on a farm near my house.  I can only see it across the field in winter when the vegetation is gone.  Also getting familiar with my Korona 4x5 camera.  And I discovered a slight leak in the lensboard, so there's a blue cast to the bottom left.  But I like this exposure anyhow.  It's on Ektar using a 300mm Schneider.

A couple of weekends ago I borrowed a camera that had belonged to a friend's grandfather. It's a Voigtlander Prominent that I dated as being from 1934. Only 4,000 of these cameras were made between 1932 and 1936. Although it had a few dents, the 10.5cm F4.5 Heliar lens appeared to be in good shape and the Compur shutter sounded ok. The rangefinder was way off, so I guessed distances or paced them out.

The friend told me it was probably last used in the 1970s - so it has sat idle for more than half its life. So I shot a roll of Ilford Delta 400 through it for old times' sake. Here are a couple of shots from the roll - one being the inevitable unintended double exposure that's so easy with this type of camera. There's also a shot of it on my mantlepiece.

Richard, that's a fantastic find.  Any plans to tune it up and use it?  I'll bet that when it's properly calibrated it performs brilliantly--even guesstimated the result looks very good.  I'm increasingly being won over to old (even uncoated!) lenses.

Well, I'm going to test drive my friend's other vintage camera shortly - it's a Voigtlander Bessa II from the early 50s. I suspect that this will more likely be the camera I choose to tune up and use. We'll see. I agree with you about old lenses - lots of character.

Thanks Phil (and Sean :)

The closer I get, the more trust I gain, the more I believe in my premise going in -- that these women, all young mothers with children to support in a country that doesn't offer much economic opportunity, are deserving of the utmost respect.  I hope to drive that home with the second series that I'm working on.  And with the third, which I plan to be documenting one woman's trip to visit her children and family, across the island, back home in Santo Domingo.

The strategically placed object is in fact a bin. I must've shot several rolls worth of frames of that wall over the years - glad I got this one.

Just the right amount of expired and cool enough temperature I think. I sandwiched these in my camera bag in a pocket between my leg and the bag so it didnt keep it super warm but had warm contact as I was walking along. I was shooting Expired PX Cool film!
